    Of all the sites on the Internet, I reckon “UpMyStreet.co.uk” has got to go down as one of the most useful, I mean come on! What site gives you as much useful information as here, it’s absolutely superb. What is “UpMyStreet.co.uk”? Well, basically, it’s a web site that gives you that useful information needed regarding your hometown or one that you are visiting.     This is an excellent web site, the concept of the site is similar to the yellow pages, but this site is much more easier and it’s at your finger tip, so it’s your online directory whenever you want to use it. I often find myself ringing yellow pages to find the number of a good restaurant, even good insurance companies, this site will do all this for me. In a matter of seconds.     Upmystreet.com is an unbelievably useful site. I recently checked it out and decided to focus on the small Kentish town of Herne Bay -where my late Mother lived- to see what sort and quality of information I would obtain. The results were simply incredible. When you enter the site you just type in a postal code or the name of the town that you wish to find information about. You can then select information about your local council, details of places to visit, cinemas,restaurants,pubs, property prices,where to buy a used car, pc and so much more.     It's a very good idea for a site - and v. useful for people moving house, or like me, just interested in where they live. You enter your postcode on the front page and it takes you to a graph where you can compare your street with the national average - or another postcode. You can compare (deep breath): House Prices, unemployment, GCSE grades, unauthorised absence, A-Level pupils - and loads more. It also has interesting Postcode profiles where you can find a nice stereotypical view of your postcode. There's also info for crime, and lists of all the schools in the area.     I stumbled across upmystreet by accident - a link from another site. I was amazed at how good this place is. I tried out my own postcode and it generated a very detailed accurate representation of my street. What suprised me most was how accurate it was. My family seemed to fit into the generalisation quite well, and then I tried it on my student house and found some amusing (but true statistics). For instance the main frozen food eaten is fish fingers and one of the most drank alcoholic beverages was either larger or table wine - something which my house consumes on a regular basis!     Upmystreet is not a site that you will use frequently. It seems to have two main purposes: 1) To monitor the state of your local area with regards to house prices, crime rates, educational results etc. 2) To assess an area when a house move is to be planned. Having said that above, the site is useful. The way the site is laid out is clear with the options available easy to find. The ability to compare areas for all of the search categories can be helpful when you have two neighbourhoods in mind (either your own or two possible moving places).     Upmystreet.com is one of those search engines that you log on to for a quick laugh or out of curiosity on your own street - but soon get sucked into entering the details of your family and friends to! Although it isn't necessarily a bible in terms of planning your next house purchase, you will find it useful for working out the likely competition for prices if you're selling.     What a great site. It is like having your own personalised search engine, delivering the most relevant results. Not only are there plenty of choices regarding information, in the classifieds section, you are given the distance in miles you are from the seller. There are a large selection of jobs on the site, with many search options to narrow down the results, and the details page that is adjoined to each article is very informative.
