Warranty Direct

Advantages: Piece of mind
Disadvantages: Network Garage

A really good experience. I have taken out a 2nd policy with Warranty Direct for my new car. I had an Omega 2.6 V6 which I took out a £290 gold cover policy. After a few months of ownership the car was using coolant and white smoke appeared. I took it to a network garage Nationwide Autocentre (more about this later) and WD took care of the whole bill, £1000. I had problems with Nationwide Autocentre, wrong information i.e. items not covered by warranty ...
...In fact a chap from Warranty Direct rang the garage up and gave them a piece of his mind and soon after my car was ready. Hence now I have a new car I am taking out a new warranty through this company. They were really good with my previous car problems and sorted them out efficiently, how many companies can you say that about. Included in my new policy I also have 'service and mot' care where if a problem is found during these times then I can ...

Worthy Warranty

Advantages: Comprehensive; easy to setup
Disadvantages: Small print

**** Introducton **** Many people I know berate this form of insurance (for that is what it is - insurance). It can be a small price for peace of mind .... but do your sums first. **** Overview **** I have had a Warranty Direct on one car. I purchased a 1 year warranty on my Vauxhall Omega which I had purchased 18 months old. You can obtain a warranty on most cars directly from Warranty Direct either online (http://www.warrantydirect.co.uk/) ...
...quoted will depend on your car, age mileage, estimated annual mileage. You are able to claim up to £5000 per annum on your policy and it can cover elements of wear and tear which cause other problems. You can take annual or longer policies out - there is a small discount for taking a longer policy. The policy is effective from day 1 so no 'cooling off period' . There are now 4 levels of cover which have maximum age and mileage limits when you ...

Great Customer Service but poor/inconsistent claims handling

Advantages: Professional customer service
Disadvantages: inconsistent claims handling

The following is my opinion and/or personal experience of Warranty Direct. I purchased the 'extensive' extra care warranty from WD approx 6 months ago, at a cost of around £300 pa. (with wear & tear from inception) The vehicle has been subject to a major service at Main Dealer the day before inception. SALES & ADMINISTRATION: Sales and adminstration at the point of sale were both first class - no complaints. CLAIMS HANDLING: Recently I noted a problem ...
...was an outdated list of network approved garages; of the three provided in my area - one was a body repair shop, one was closed down and the other didnt provide loan cars. Luckily I had paid the extra premium and was able to take the car to a garage of my choice. My local main again was able to accept the vehicle and provide a loan car, however, this did mean that I would have to pay the hefty bill upfront and then recover from WD. In addition to ...

Warranty Direct car cover - GREAT PRODUCT

Advantages: Very good service and lack of lots of exclusions like other policies
Disadvantages: Like all warranties you only fee the value when you need it and it pays out!

After having policy for nearly 2 years attempted to make claim for repairs on a Mini expecting to meet a whole host of exclusions when I tried to claim. In fact the guy in the Mini garage looked at me dis believingly when I asked him to liaise with Warranty Direct. Very pleased and surprised when Warranty Direct agreed to pay nearly all the repair bill with no quibble. In fact the amount paid out to me is about the same that I have paid out in premiums. ...

Extra Care Policy was a good investment!

Advantages: A money saving way to stress-free driving!
Disadvantages: Excessive paperwork

I was rather reluctant to take out the warranty at first but I am glad I put aside this fear and went ahead with it. It saved me a lot of money and I have peace of mind. Overall, the experience was good! I was a little disappointed about the unnecessary paperwork and the rather specific criteria that had to be met, hence, resulting in me having to have my car re-serviced at a VAT registered garage, which just added to work-load, but once this was ...

Warranty Direct car repair cover

Advantages: Few
Disadvantages: Too many ways to refuse a claim

I have always been dubious about any form of insurance as the aim of any insurer is to take a premium and find an excuse not to pay a claim. WARRANTY DIRECT are a perfect example as per my experience. In May 07 I took out their Gold Policy providing their so called top class cover for my Mercedes to be repaired by a franchised dealer, cost was £43 monthly. This I thought would provide cover for just about every problem I might encounter. Frankly ...
...too many problems but I felt reassured, and I expected Warranty Direct would do well out of me. But I did not think for one moment it would be to my detriment. Perhaps it is just as well I learned a lesson early on though. A week ago the car had a fuel leak with work required described by the Merc repair shop as: "replaced leaking injector pipes and replaced No 1 injector seal and V belt" ( as belt was contaminated with diesel) Guess what, ...........my ...

Warranty Direct " Driving with peace of mind"

Advantages: Driver peace of mind, reasonably priced compared to main dealer warranties.
Disadvantages: Only negative for me is that I have to pay for repairs and then claim it back.

A year ago I decided to purchase a warranty form Warranty direct, it cost me £420 to cover my BMW 530d, my pride and joy , but with the potential for expensive repairs if it breaks down. I hoped it was the right decision,£420 isnt loose change. From September last year I was unfortunate to have a string of problems, three seperate breakdowns and each time thankfully covered by the warranty.I feared that I might have problems in claiming three times ...
...was handled courteously and efficiently and without any attempt to make me feel uncomfortable, in fact the agent I spoke to assured me that it was why I purchased the warranty and that all genuine claims would be dealt with in the same way. It is for this reason that I feel able to write this review and to now reccomend the company to my friends based on my own real experiences. I would not consider owning and driving a car without a warranty , with ...

Theyare not transparent

Advantages: I didnt see any.
Disadvantages: highly unprofessional and unethical code of practise.

Fellow Readers, I had a recent bad experience with Warranty Direct. My mistake, i followed the code of trust and ethics. When i purchased this comprehensive warranty for my car, i gave them full history of my car and all the relevant details and i kept asking them many questions and checked them whether there is anything else they would like me to know before i get this policy. This gentleman from WD plainly said no sir we have pretty much covered ...
...about. Now, after two months when i came to a situation that i need to take my car to the garage, the pandora box was opened. They are insisting that i produce the invoice of my previous service. Fair enough. But then this was not told in the beginning and it was not enforced. WD just wanted to know the previous service date and want to make sure that i but this policy first. I would say this particular information was purposefully kept under the ...

EXTENDED CAR WARRANTY PLAN

Advantages: Financial protection against breakdown of many of car major components
Disadvantages: Some exclusions.

Excellent car warranty plan and good value for money. Customer Services staff are knowlegeable, courteous and helpful and will explain what is and isn't included in the warranty. Warranty documents arrive quickly, and include a claim form. If you need to make a claim, as I did recently, the authorisation was all done online between my garage and Warranty Direct. You pay the bill to your garage and apply for a refund. All I had to do then was check ...
...Direct for refund. The refund check arrived about 2 weeks later, together with a new claim form. Be aware that the small print includes mention of automatic renewal, but as the company sends a renewal reminder 3 or 4 weeks before renewal is due, I cannot say whether automatic renewal is ever applied. ...

ANOTHER SATISFIED CUSTOMER!

Advantages: Prompt, courteous and efficient service
Disadvantages: None

It was necessary for me to have the cambelt and tensioner assembly replaced on my 2000 Skoda Octavia SLXI Turbo hatchback recently. I had detected an unusual noise coming from the engine compartment and immediately took my car to the garage from whom I purchased it and who maintain it. Fortunately they are situated in the village where I live in Bedfordshire. The follwing day the garage rang me to say that the cambelt tensioner pulley had failed, ...
...relieved at having narrowly avoided an engine catastrophe, I immediately put the repair work in hand. Being away from home I had no recourse to my Warranty Direct Policy and had not had to make a claim before. Having had the work done I rang Warranty Direct and asked if they would entertain a claim. The man in the Claims Department, David by name, advised me to complete a Claim Form, submit the normally required supporting documentation, and to include ...

A terrific value car warranty policy.

Advantages: Polite, efficient and accessible
Disadvantages: None

I was covered by Warranty Direct policies for three years. I made two claims during this time and found the company and employees to be efficient and always courteous. The process was relatively painless, and the last pay-out was for a blown BMW engine. Trainer BMW, my local franchised dealer did not want to know, apart from recommending a new engine at £7000! BMW Customer Services were equally evasive, despite the fact that the cause of the engine ...

They even consider tanks as 'wear and tear items'

Advantages: Great way to throw money down the drain
Disadvantages: No service at all. They just fob things off on to their underwriters.

I bought my top of the line warranty from these people at the beginning of September 2007 hoping that it would cover me for major repairs for my car. I had to pay extra because I wanted my car dealt with at a franchised dealer, rather than at any other VAT registered garage. Boy, was I wrong. When I took my car to the dealer to have a look because I noticed some things wrong, I was told that they had been informed by Warranty Direct that they could ...
...claiming the money back from them it was a different story. They claimed that all the items changed were wear and tear. This included two electrical fan units and a coolant tank. How is a coolant tank wear and tear. Stay away from these people and buy a warranty from your dealer instead. ...

Warranty Direct - Claim experience

Advantages: A car warranty that is worth the premium
Disadvantages: none

I have to say I was really impressed with Warranty direct. With all the negative press and talk about car warranties, I wondered whether I should take out a warranty and what would happened when my car went in for a repair. Would the service meet the promise in the advertising? When the water pump failed on our car it was refreshing to hear that even the garage carrying out the work were impressed, having had no difficulty contacting or getting authorisation ...
...to telephone the claims department to check the some details on the claim form. I got through immediately and the person I spoke to was really helpful and resolved all the queries. Seven days later a cheque arrived. I can't see any way how the service could be any better. Really first class! ...

Fantastic warranty !!

Advantages: Large amounts of parts covered , Claim procedure very clearly explained, Fast efficient payment of claim
Disadvantages: non that I can think of

I have had a warranty with Warranty Direct for several years now and they have always dealt with my claims very quickly and proffesionally always clearly explaining the procedure as they go along - But I was a bit worried when my Landrover discovery had a cracked cylinder head , we broke down on the M4 and motor easy picked us up very quickly and towed our car to a local garage - the repair was going to be a huge expense to repair . And the cost ...
...the car i, so Warranty Direct very quickly and proffessionally paid us £1700 to settle the claim and the garage ended up buying the landrover from us which in total was about the cars worth . It was a M reg landrover and had done over 100k . I was very very impressed by warranty direct , they were very efficient and a pleasure to deal with ! I would highly recommend anyone to take out a warranty with them! I have now got a warranty on my Landcruiser ...

Quick review of warrantydirect.co.uk

What a nightmare experience. I had a Gold policy and Warranty Direct rejected my claim stating the part was not covered. They referred to a card which detailed parts covered. I had no such card and it was not referred to in my welcome letter. I pursued the issue with them and was prepared to go to The Financial Ombudsman before they saw reason and paid my claim. Having now had a copy of the card I now realise how useless the policy was. A Gold policy should mean the best there is and it clearly wasn't. The staff you deal with are arrogant and have no understanding of customer service. My advice is pursue any claim all the way with them. ...
