Disadvantages Disadvantages You need to know exactly what you are looking for

I am an invigorated man. Before you stands (well, sits) someone who has discovered that his system does not have any little glitches or sagging performance. He can now keep his end up with no trouble at all. Well hopefully all is now clear to you. No, I was not given a packet of small blue tablets for Christmas, I joined the romantic and practical set! Dearest and I had a talk a couple of weeks ago, and we agreed that we would buy each other a practical present that can be used by the whole family. Dearest expressed a great desire to have a pressure cooker, and who was I to turn down such a ... more

About 3 years ago I decided that since CD writers were under £200 that would be what I wanted for my birthday. After looking at several catalogues and websites I found a company that was new to me- Watford electronics. They had a fantastic price on a Philips CD rewriter and some very well priced CD’s as well. The first time I phoned to place an order I could not, this was because of the price. The catalogue I was looking at was in a computer magazine that was just released on that day, when I phoned to place my order I was told that the catalogue price would not come into effect for ... more

    Advantages Advantages Good prices

Disadvantages Disadvantages Poor customer service and order system

In December I ordered a modem from watford.co.uk I went through the complete order process for the modem and put in my card details etc. However, I did not recieve an e-mail confirmation, although I had been given an Order Number. I rang up their customer services and explained what had happened. They asked for the Order Number, and looked it up on their system. They had no trace of the order, and told me that I would have to re-order, as my order didn't exist. I decided not to re-order the modem from them, but instead went to my local computer shop. But, in January I recieved an e-mail from ... more

Advantages Advantages Good prices, convenience, reliable delivery

Disadvantages Disadvantages Sometimes difficult to phone customer services.

First started buying from Watford about four years ago. Just a few bits and pieces to begin with such as blank CDs etc. The prices are usually a substantial saving on anything comparable at PC World, and delivery is normally within one or two days. They use a well known delivery company and the products are well packaged and protected. It's not always convenient to order products on-line if you've got a job and you're not in to accept delivery so I'll often make last minute purchases at PC World and then torture myself later looking up the corresponding price on the Watford web-site. My ... more

Advantages Advantages Close to the town. Website is OK.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Bad company that is getting worse. Bad hardware. Bad prices

If you live in Watford there are only a few places to go if you want to buy stuff for your computer. Watford Electronics and RLsupplies. I have shopped at both places and come to the conclusion that you are better off going to RLSupplies. Why? Because although they never used to be, RL is much cheaper than Watford Electronics. The products are much better and you are assured that they will work (unlike at Watford Electronics). Since I have been going to Watford Electronics I have seen great bargains and some competetive prices. Now the prices are way too high compared to other stores. The ... more

Advantages Advantages Quick delivery, cheap prices, plenty of choice.

Disadvantages Disadvantages None really althought they got their wires a little crossed.

I recently bought a Yamaha CD-R/RW which was on special offer at Watford. I was looking around at the various retailers around and found that Watford were the cheapest for the product I was after so I place the order. I found the website to be easy to navigate and the sign-up process was easy enough. There seems to be plenty of choice so chances are they stock whatever you are looking for. Anyway the next day I received an email saying that the product was currently out of stock and it would take a few days before I received it. However, later that day Parcel Force were at my door with my CD ... more

This is an account of my issues with Watford Electronics (www.watfordelectronics.com) I purchased a Carrera PC via carrera.com. With 5 years warranty. First a few problems, the subwoofer didn't work but contacted Creative and they sent me out another asap. Problem sorted. Then the hard drives started to play up and then found myself constantly ringing the technical helpline at Carrera. But eventually got the problem sorted. Although I have to say Carrera was the best helpline I've ever come across. No worries there. Until..... Only months after buying the PC, I got a letter from Carrera to say ... more

I recently bought my brother a pc from Watford as he's new to the world of computing. I saw an advert in one of the more reputable pc magazines and thought that the prices watford were quoting for a full system were very reasonable. After comparing with other manufacturers I decided to order online. o.k. so far. The computer was delivered on the wrong day and as a result we had to collect it from the depot in the next city (cannot attribute this to Watford), which was an inconvenience. Once the computer was set up, this was when my problems started, the computer would behave very erratically ... more

Ok me and watford electronics go a long way back. i used to use them in the good old days when they were known as the green pages. Fairly recently (within the last year) i noticed that greenpages no longer existed but savastore had appeared. I continued to shop there as the prices were very cheap! I would say i have been a very good customer to them and have spent a great deal of my money with them. Until recently i had no troubles whatsoever, fast delivery and quality products... The Trouble began just before christmas when i order a radeon 9700 graphics card. as usual the card arrived about ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not particularly user friendly for non-tech heads

There are probably 1000s of us out there who need to buy a pc, but who know next to nothing about them, and are therefore cannon fodder for the rip off merchants out there. Asking for advice from friendly geeks often throws up more questions than answers; you find out that PC World are the work of the devil, that you should never buy a PC with Windows installed on it, that Pentium Processors don't work, Celeron are even worse, and the best bet is to mine your own silicon and work from there. Fortunately I come from a family of geeks, so I was able to get some real in depth advice on exactly ... more
