    Whsmith wasted my time! Firstly, I chose to try out Whsmith online because they have excellent discounts (up to 50% on some books), their website looked good, and they’re a reputable high street chain. They sell various products on their site including: >Books >Magazines >Stationary >DVD >Videos >Music >Games It is very easy to log on if you want to purchase something – just supply all the usually bits of information and you're away and ready to place your order.     I love shopping anywhere but on the Internet it’s even better. No need to get dressed or stress that the shops will shut in 30 minutes and you can even save vast amounts of cash. If you’re like me and don’t have much money to throw around (two credit cards to bring up) you’ll also need to spend your money wisely. WH Smith helps you get a good product for a relatively cheap price (but watch that p&p).     Advantages Advantages The prices seem reasonably competitive and they do have a wide range of stock.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Late or even no delivery, poor online ordering information.

    I've been using the internet for about 8 years now and I'm a heavy user (by which I don't mean I weigh a lot, but I am probably online for around 8 hours per day). However, I have only been a regular online shopper for the past 2 years or so. During this time, I have had no complaints at all and I have used a lot of different companies - amazon, bol, cd101, jungle, evesham, dabs and even Sainsburys and Tescos.     I’ve had mostly very good experiences with WHSmith.co.uk, though I believe there are some areas on which they could improve. I’ve shopped with them for about six months now and would rate my happiness with their service, overall, at about 90%. First off, I generally find that WHSmith is cheaper than Amazon. Their p&p costs slightly less and their products are normally (though not always) reduced further.     The first time I used WH Smith online was way back in December 1999. I ordered a Madness CD, amongst other things. WH Smith sent them out one at a time, which was great. The only problem was that I received a 'Michael Palin's Ernest Hemingway Adventure' video in place of my Madness CD. How did they manage this? Was somebody playing a joke? I'll never know. I did contact customer services who promptly sent out my Madness CD and allowed me to 'keep' the video - it sits unwatched on my shelf to this day.     Don’t use WHSmithonline.co.uk OH MY GOD! This is probably the worst place I have shopped online in the last few months. I thought I would order some books for college with WHSmithonline as the site seemed to offer a good price on books that was much cheaper than books in Waterstone's. I thought it would be a great idea to as I could get clubcard points on all orders and bonus points for ordering online (more than would you could get in the shops).     Disadvantages Disadvantages Delivery times are not updated, service is awful, and support is useless.

    I buy books online (at least one a month) from large well-known retailers like Amazon and BOL, and also from others like the Student Bookshop. These sites usually state delivery times so you know when to expect your orders - they sometimes even e-mail you to notify you that it has left the warehouse, which is just excellent customer service. For the first time I decided to order two books from WHSmith online, and placed my order. Both books were displayed as being delivered within 48 hours.     When I was a teenager the one and only place to go, if you needed anything from stationery to books to magazines, was W.H. Smith. With the advancement of technology and the Internet becoming a major place to shop, the stranglehold that W.H. Smith had in these items, was slowly coming to an end.     Advantages Advantages Saves you money, fast and very effective web site.

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Delivery of books is very slow, packaging is very poor, and online tracking is very poor.

    I have only used this service the once and I received the book today. I am slightly dissapointed with the service although I saved quite a bit of money in the process. I had to have this book for university, so as any other student, you would look for the cheapest possible option. WHSmiths online were cheaper by about £6 and so I decided to buy the book so I would receive it before my lecture last Tuesday. Thought wrong, the book took a week to get to me instead of a fast delivery. I am not too bothered as last week was the first seminar session so I could get away with it. The book itself got ... more

    I used WHSmith's service to purchare a number of books recently. I chose WHSmiths as they happen to offer an extra 5% discount to employees of the company I work for. Many of the books had a significant discount, and I believe that I saved a little money, especially on in store prices. The books I ordered where all dispatched when available, so they didn't arrive together, and it made them look like they were not billed together.
