Last week was the end of free online storage as offered by X-drive.com. It was a good service. It was perfect for me and had so many uses. When we had group projects to complete we would store them online and four or five of us would have access to this service. We shared the password and we were allocated quite a lot of space. Xdrive lets you have up to 100MB of free personal space on the Internet to manage and store your files. X Drive is one of those services which provides you with free storage space on their servers for you to upload your files and keep them securely stored. It's free but there's not a great deal of space there unless you wnat to pay for the privilege and it always feels a bit risky to me - I'm never sure whether I'll be able to get at the stuff or recover it, so you can't really rely on it. As of April 18, 2001, it will no longer be possible to enjoy free file storage space on Xdrive. From now on, you will have to pay $4.95 for the basic service which will include 25 Mb of storage space, plus 2.95 per month for each additional 25MB of storage or $6.95 per month for each additional 100MB of storage.
