Yahoo is an excellent site to sign up to. I have been using the yahoo services for over 4 years now and i'm really happy with them. I use Yahoo frequently everyday for a number of different reasons. Yahoo! is brilliant, free e-mail and web hosting and searching and ..... why not give yahoo a go. A comprehensive place to find anything on the web and with many topics to search from including all the popular areas such as computers and the internet, similar to ciao in a way. You can never go wrong with Yahoo! and Yahoo! Geocities (Yahoo!'s web pages). There are many different countries that Yahoo! covers so all nationalities can get in on the shear ... ...Yahoo! fool!
Here comes another of my updates on one of my early ops, again don't expect too much.
I have used Yahoo! lots for searching especially as they use Goggle to carry out a more detailed search if want that (although you probably wont find what you want this way), well I could go on and on, here is a quick run down of the searching facilities, etc.

Yahoo is the search engine of choice for many, but have they made the right choice? I've used Yahoo for four years now and find it useful for some things but very poor for others. I think it's a matter of understanding what Yahoo is that will really make the difference to your searching, and if you use Yahoo with other search engines you will really be able to get the best from the Internet. At the end of this opinion I give a useful suggestion about ... ...the best of both worlds.
Lets start by looking at what YAHOO actually is. Firstly, it is not so much a search engine, more a directory. A true search engine, like Excite, Alta Vista or Google, searches the web continually ("crawling" or "spidering"), looking at sites, and links from sites, and updating its indexes with what it finds. Advantages: Most popular search engine on the internet, combines every other service across the 'net in one place. Disadvantages: Too many dead links, too slow a queue to get listed, refuses to pass to Google instantly, you have to tell it to go there else it'll just search the categories
The Yahoo search engine comes in numerous flavours, all designed for local languages and communities. You get the .com one for the American market and there's a .co.uk for the UK and a few others as well. Now there is nothing new about this, other search engines have been doing this for ages, providing localised content (though whether people actually use it is another opinion altogether).
There isn't much to say about the Yahoo search engine, except ... ...sub-sub-categories and so on and so-forth. This is its uniqueness over something like Altavista. You can search for something and it'll look through the categories it has and the sub categories. You then go down to whatever depth it decides and look through the collection of links that supposedly are active under your category. Some of these will be dead (it's not uncommon sometimes to find an entire sub-category of dead links), but dead links are ...

Searching for something specific on the web used to be hard.Trying to find something on George Washington on another search engine you'd find tons of blind links and stuff you weren't looking for.
Yet with Yahoo! Search I found it to be much easier of a chore to find something specific on the web with it's main and sub categories.
Nearly everyone in the world knows what Yahoo.com is.It being only one of the few internet search engines that advertise ... ...Finding what you need is a snap on Yahoo
Divided onto Yahoo's main page are 14 main categories with countless sub categories.These main categories include Arts,News and Media,Science,Health,Entertainment, and much more.
The only thing Yahoo really lacks in it's searching capabilities I think are the lack of results.Unlike most search engines where there is over 100,000 matches found Yahoo finds only around 100.
But this is not really that bad ...

Auction: On the auctions, you can buy basically anything you want and most of the things in it are available at reasonable prices. You can buy anything from a new PlayStation 2 to a Food Processor. You can either search it or go through the category. Yahoo! Mail: I rather the Yahoo mail to Hotmail, because it is quicker to load and easier to use. It also gives you access to ... ...of other things on the yahoo.co.uk site, but I don't want to bore you anymore with them (if I haven't already!). If you want a search engine go for google. For a site with special features then Yahoo! will most likely have the things you want. Many people will disagree, but go check it out and make your own mind up, and if you already disagree, go and look at the site from this angle and see if that changes your mind. ...

I have to say that whenever I want to search the web for anything, Yahoo is the search engine that I choose. I find them to offer a good search facility that always gives me decent results and keeps the useless pages to a minimum. As for layout its a pretty standard style with the usual links to various different sections which help to speed up the process. Yahoo like Lycos also have a very good (probably better than Lycos) news section which you ... ...also offer a good web based free e-mail service which is easy to access and easy to use and above all is free. You can also link to the other Yahoo sites, theres a site for many many world countries. I highly reccommend Yahoo's search engine though its always done me good and i normally find out all my searches from here without venturing elsewhere. ...

Yahoo has completely lost it's way over the past year or so. What used to be a great way of finding decent and relevant web sites is turned into a disorganised mess. Getting a new site listed is now next to impossible - and that is the opinion of many web developers that I know. The great thing about Yahoo was that dead links were removed swiftly, but that is no longer the case. The introduction of free e-mail, auctions, chat, shopping and everything ... ...thier use as a search facility. The sad thing is that many new 'net users only know to use Yahoo because it is still the most famous. As far as directories go the Open Directory Project is a million miles ahead now. Perhaps Yahoo are not interested in Internet searches now, but that is what they built their site on and what made it one of, if not the biggest internet portals. The rest of their facilities are good in their own way but the search facility ...

Ever since I started using the internet, I've been using yahoo. Even people who know nothing about the net at all, seem to have heard of Yahoo. Even with so many other search engines around, Yahoo has always stood taller than the rest. I'm sure that in someway or another, it even led me to this place. Searches on yahoo are very easy. You basically type in whatever you want to look for, and then it finds it for you. Your search can either be more ... ...you can make it more specific by looking for exact matches, using a " at the start and end of a phrase.
It will not only find what you were looking for, listing them in order, with the closest, most accurate to your item, at the top. But it will also list other close matches too. So even if your not sure exactly what you're looking for, you can still find it here. It is however, not just a search engine, its also an excellent information centre. ...
