I have been using Yahoo mail for about 4 years, and I think that it is one of the best web based e-mail accounts, and I would definitely recommend it. I also have experience of using Hotmail, but prefer Yahoo mail for a number of reasons. From my experience, Hotmail's service is down more often, and it seems that Yahoo mail is more reliable. Yahoo! Mail is so great that I had to write an opinion on the matter. Advantages: Generous capacity, fast, quick, easy to use and free!

...so if you go to yahoo.com you'll get a yahoo.com address, similiarly if you go to yahoo.hk you'll get an @yahoo.hk address. So for a UK one, go to yahoo.co.uk. There is an upper limit of 2MB per email with attachments but this is no great loss. Downloading through POP3 at home is good but the web interface is good for access through colleges and so on.
