Advantages Advantages Surveys are interesting and not too long.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Cannot claim payment until you reach certain amount

Like a lot of other people in the UK I have some debt. Not a lot now as I have paid most of it off and am now nearing the light at the end of a dark tunnel but at one point I was quite heavily in debt and struggling to cope. Some of you may have read my review on coping with debt which told my story and gave others some hopefully helpful hints and tips to try themselves on how to save money and start getting debts paid off. I have always been what some may call a wheeler dealer. If there is a way to make money I will try it – as long as it is legal of course. As a child I would sell my old ... more

Disadvantages Disadvantages Seems to take half a lifetime to reach their minimum payout level

~ UPDATED AS AT JULY 2006 ~ You Gov is a British online market research company based in London. Although their name suggests that they are a government-funded initiative, they are actually a privately funded company, even though their surveys do tend to have a political theme/bias to them. You Gov invites individuals to join their polling club and voice their opinion. They make their money by conducting surveys measuring public opinion and selling them on to a variety of different companies. Their client base is made up of newspapers and magazines (i.e. The Sunday Times, The Observer, The ... more

Advantages Advantages Cash Payout, interesting surveys, linked to big corporations and Government

Disadvantages Disadvantages BrandIndex survey feels repetitive, long time to get payouts

I joined YouGov.com some four years ago now, after reading a review about it on this very site. YouGov PLC is one of the many online survey sites that are available for the general public to make money and share their opinion, and one of the few that make payments in cash. YouGov itself was founded about six years ago, and despite its name, is not directly linked with the government but is a professional market research agency. It does have a reputable client list, and its results are often published and quoted in the News. Many surveys do contain questions intended to determine individuals' ... more

Advantages Advantages Interesting surveys, good payment, professional company

Disadvantages Disadvantages The website is a bit hard to navigate

I am a big fan of survey sites. I love giving my opinion and receiving money or vouchers for my time. I'm a member of about twenty sites and one of my favourites is YouGov, so I thought you'd like to hear about it too and hopefully make yourselves a bit of money! They pay out in cheques of £50 so it is worth having and they are sent out automatically. Whereas most survey sites I belong to want to know about your use of fabric conditioner and flights to Europe, YouGov is based in politics and current affairs. This is great for me as I am fascinated by such things and usually have something to ... more

Advantages Advantages Surveys on interesting topics, professional and well-designed website

Disadvantages Disadvantages Relatively high payout threshold

Founded in May 2000, YouGov is an independent market research agency which, despite the slightly misleading name, is not funded, run by, or affiliated to the Government or any Government agencies. YouGov uses the Internet and information technology to collect "higher quality in-depth data" for market research and public consultation, via its panel recruited from all ages, socio-economic groups and regions of Britain. It is commissioned by a wide range of clients including media agencies - newspapers, TV etc - academics, private companies and not-for-profit organisations. YouGov states that its ... more

Advantages Advantages Guaranteed survey qualification, Easy to answer surveys, Short surveys

Disadvantages Disadvantages Slim chance of winning Prize draws, Slow to reach payment threshold

INTRODUCTION YouGov is one of many paid survey websites that I use whereby you fill surveys in return for an incentive of some sort. In YouGov's case, they give pay cash and give you entries into their prize draws in return for responses to their survey invitations. YouGov seem to be one of the only market research companies that I repeatedly hear mentioned in the media, which does show that they aren't a small player although this does have some downsides. EXPERIENCE My experience with YouGov has been mostly positive although returns are very slow compared with my experience with the oodles ... more

Advantages Advantages Cash instantly credited to YouGov account, Excellent referral scheme

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can take a long time to reach £50 threshold

YouGov is a popular website that pays you for completing online surveys. YouGov is a very well-established and respected global market research company. It is so well established in fact, that it floated on the stock market and it has a large enough profile to pop up on the Finance pages of the broadsheets every so often. With this in mind, I think it would be nicer if YouGov rewarded their survey participants with more money for the surveys they complete! It took me three years to earn £50 just for competing their surveys! I think this is an incredibly long time compared with other survey ... more

Advantages Advantages An easy way to earn cash

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Not everybodys interest

Here is a web site that will pay you for answering polls/surveys on politics and current affairs. And they wont pay you peanuts. In a nutshell (not a peanut one!), a few times a week Yougov.com hold a poll on their web site and you are invited to take part in them. They pay between 50p and £3 for each survey completed. Once your account balance reaches £50, a nice chunky cheque is posted to your home. *YouGov.com* The site itself is a web site for political news and views. They use the polls/survey results to the supply the Sunday papers with statistics which are then printed to show what ... more

Advantages Advantages quick and easy to complete surveys

Disadvantages Disadvantages poor reliability, poor layout

YouGov.com is a website dedicated to collating public opinions on what are generally political issues. But don’t fall asleep yet – those of us who are constantly chasing the latest get rich scheme on the internet may want to read on. The good news is that YouGov, through it’s sponsoring companies and organisations, will pay you to complete short surveys. These are of the “rate between 1 and 5” variety, and take no more than a minute or two to complete. The website itself is frankly dreadful. The log in procedure works about once in ten. The other nine times you ... more
