In my campaign to avoid the perfume counter in Boots I found myself in the make up section instead a good 10 metres from temptation I'll add! Revlon the manufacturer that gave us the delightful Charlie ( note sarcasm here please!) isn't my first choice in cosmetics in fact it's not my second nor my third choice. If it had not been for the nice sign in eye catching red saying 3 for 2 I'd have hurriedly passed by as I have on countless other occasions but the lure of 3 for 2 was too much. After a perusal of the available items I hurriedly rushed past the Perfume counter with only a quick spray of Eternity Purple Orchid -rather nice I'll add and paid for my items.
Revlon manufacture at present two kinds of lip gloss in their lip glide range - a normal one and a sheer range. With 16 colours from siren reds to muted browns there probably is a shade to suit everyone in their range. Revlon state that the lip glide is heavily pigmented so isn't like your normal lip glosses with a mere hint of a tint to them. After trying several on the back of my wrist they appeared to look just like a glopy lip stick with a shine to them. I was sold and bought two as part of my 3 for 2 offer. The normal price is £7.49
Packaged very similar to a giant felt tip these chunky pens, come coloured to the shade you've just purchased, with a clear plastic lid you can see the applicator which for the life of me looks just like the top bit of a marker pen. Along the barrel of the pen written in gold the name of the product along with the colour shade you have chosen in my case it was the tweely named Berry Dazzling - a muted dusky pink shade and the ruby red Sparkling Sangria. At the bottom of the barrel it is split into a twistable part where the lip gloss is no doubtly stored.
After ridding the pen of it's protective plastic wrapper, I followed the instructions that simple state keep on twisting till colour appears. After a minute of twisting the bottom segment nothing appeared, a further minute of twisting and still nothing! After 5 minutes of frantic twisting -I was getting a wee bit miffed and was about to give up when suddenly colour splurged out of the tiny holes in the sponge applicator. With perhaps a wee bit more than I actually needed I started to apply the gloss. Now bare in mind this product is called Lip Glide so you'd expect it to glide over your lips wouldn't you? Unfortunately this is not the case with this product! It dragged across my lips leaving a glop of reddish gloss, after a few more "glides"over with the applicator the gloss was evenly applied. The immediate look was that of a shiny red glossy finish. My lips how ever felt like I'd mistakenly rubbed super glue all over them, it also tasted foul!
Having previously used Urban decays Lip Gunk I realizes that a pigmented lip gloss isn't like a lip stick with great staying power, but you do expect it to stay put a wee bit longer than this product does! Now I'm used to the first cuppa in the morning having lippy around the edges and indeed the first cigarette being stained to what ever lip stick/gloss I'm wearing but what I'm not used to is having to re apply straight away afterwards. Having tried the red lip gloss as I was going out for the evening I realized that after having a cuppa all of it was actually on the cup leaving me with a rather fetching (NOT) stained look to my lips. After cleaning it off I opted foolishly to try the muted pink one I'd purchased thinking it would look better. Unfortunately it's staying power was equally non existent and it also tasted just as foul. Half way throw the evening I gave and applied a normal lip stick instead!
Unfortunately I can find nothing in it's favour to recommend Revlon's Lip Glide. It's difficult to apply, the applicator drags over the lips, it has a similar feel to applying super glue to your lips, it has a knack of gliding off in a very short time span and more importantly it doesn't pass that all important snogging test!
Revlon Lip Glide Sheer Lip Gloss
Wow what a mouthful! But very worth it, this has got to be my best find in make up products for ages. I love lip-glosses but some of them can be a little too kiddie for my liking. I guess not everyone enjoys banana flavoured lip-gloss or it might just be me. I was looking for something a little more grown up, something I wouldn’t be embarrassed to take out of my handbag when I’m out on the razzle!
This is just perfect! ... ...pink and it has the Revlon Lip Glide Lip Gloss (BREATHE) Logo in gold lettering on it with matching gold lettering around the twisting mechanism telling you how to work it.
Unfortunately there are no ingredients listed on this, so I would not be able to comment on any allergy warnings.
APPLICATION
The first thing that hit me about this lip-gloss was the incredibly wonderful smell! It was divine! Like a cherry blossom tree smell.
I followed the ...

...family. So when Revlon launched their 'revolutionary' LipGlide, with its posh advertising complimentary of Halle Berry and promotional pricing in Boots, I, of course, couldn't resist. Revlon tempted me with the description:
"Now you can get the full coverage of a lipstick, the super shine of a lip gloss and the control of a pen...This breakthrough formula blends super-saturated colour pigments with ultra-reflective mini-prisms for maximum colour ... ...But that is not a Revlon fault, just a typical complaint of all lip glosses. So the LipGlide was banished to my 'work' handbag to be used for the week at work, to continue my study....so consider my complete horror when on Thursday morning (NB the product was bought on the Saturday midday, and now we're less than 120 hours later).....the LipGlide RAN OUT! Yup completely finito!
Now i may like my lipgloss, and at times apply it in excess, but not ...

Well, i'm not exactly the Queen of makeup. I'm the type of girl, that likes to wear a little lipgloss and a little powder!!
Well, I may aswell have worn my good old vaseline, for the lenght of time the Lipglide stayed on. I don't like spending a lot on lipgloss, and usually stick to collection 2000. But in this instance, i thought i'd treat myself and buy one of the new shades. That's what drew me to the counter, the fact that there were loads of ... ...and in the shop, the tester worked BRILLIANTLY on the hand. Nice shiny colour, great texture. The applicator twisted and clicked easily so only a small amount came out. The packaging was bright and slimline and easily fit into my bag.
On arrival home, i thought i'd test it out, and talk about glide on, glide off!!!!!!!!!!!
It lasted no more than 45 minutes. It was an absolute waste of money at £5.99. It couldn't get through a quick glass of water, ...

, right? But it?s a cult classic and if you?re a make-up fascist then this is a must! Lucky for me, I got mine free when I subscribed to Red Magazine.
If you?re looking for a fruity gloss, but have a more limited budget, there are lots of budget alternatives, which arguably do the same job. You could try: RevlonLipGlideColourGloss (£7.49) or Ruby & Millie Lip Gloss (£13).
