...intention of buying this new Revlon one, but I tried it out with the tester simply because I was attracted by the case.
This is a bright pink, the size and shape of an ordinary chubby mascara wand, but double barrelled, so you can open it at both ends. Around the middle of the barrel, like a narrow cigar band, is a mottled black pattern, a bit like Dalmatian spots. The overall effect is a bit tarty, but not blatantly so. The label, ... ...I’d certainly go for the Revlon without hesitation. It really does deserve the adjective ‘glamorous’.
Lloyds had two shades, mine ( Polar Pink), and a darker one, but the saleswoman told me that more are available in bigger stores. They, and the rest of the new range, are well worth having a look at. I’ve got a complete new makeup set here for less than £30, and it’s one of my (early) Christmas treats to myself.
Revlon’s new products for Christmas, on display in Lloyds Chemists, and I’m sure in other outlets, look pretty good, and very tempting to a cosmetics junkie like me, so yesterday I treated myself to four of them : Swirl Blush, Wet/Dry Shadow Quartet, Mission Mauve Lipstick ( which isn’t mauve), and Lipgloss and Glitz. They all have a pinky-brown colour theme, and it’s the lipgloss about which I want to tell you.
I confess to little success with lipglosses, and I’ve tried plenty, from Lancôme to a cheap thing I bought in Superdrug, whose name I can’t recall. All of them looked good for a brief period, but then one of two things began to happen. Either they seemed to wear off very quickly, or a cup of coffee demolished them entirely. So I had really no intention of buying this new Revlon one, but I tried it out with the tester simply because I was attracted by the case.
The label, in English and French, says ‘Lipgloss and Glitz.’ It would be simple to slip it into a bag or pocket for touch-ups, and it wouldn’t break easily or leak.
I expected a gloss, of course, and I thought the glitz end would be some sort of sparkle to put on top. In fact, except that the gloss is slightly darker than the glitz, I can’t see any difference between them. They both have a very high sheen. I decided to buy it because I love the pink shades, and I paid £7.99 for 11ml at Lloyds Chemists. That’s quite a lot for someone who doesn’t get on too well with such products, but I’d noticed something. When I’d finished trying them out, and tried to wipe the stuff off the back of my hand with a tissue, it was quite hard to shift. Maybe this time it would last.
Since then I’ve tried it out in different ways : Gloss on its own : very nice, a natural, fresh pink colour, which lasted for several hours and though two cups of coffee. Glitz on its own : the same. Either of them over one of my ordinary lipsticks : gives a very attractive wet look. Either of them over a very dark lipstick : tones it down. This lipstick was one of those we all have, which lurk among our other cosmetics as a constant reproach. You don’t throw them out, because they cost so much. This bad buy Chanel one looks all right with the gloss on top, so I can use it up in the evenings.
How easy are the gloss and glitz to apply ? Very. There are slimline sponge applicators which seem to hold just the right amount for one application. They’d be easy to clean, too.
How do they feel on the lips ? To be frank, a bit gloopy. But then, such things always do. I can only say that they compare well with other similar products, and they do last. In any case, I find I soon get used to the slight stickiness, and I’d put up with it for the high shine. Gloss is helpful for thin lips, as it makes them look fuller. Mine are not miserably thin, but I do like the pout that Gloss and Glitz gives them. In a blind test between this and Lancôme’s Juicy Tubes I’d certainly go for the Revlon without hesitation. It really does deserve the adjective ‘glamorous’.

One gripe I have, and it’s against every manufacturer of cosmetics, is that the colours and effects in the promotional photographs bear very little resemblance to what the product actually looks like on the consumer. If you want an example, look at the Maybelline lipstick pictures. It’s a great, shimmery lipstick to use, but the girl in the promotion looks as if she’s had her mouth slathered in goose fat. The new Revlon photo is almost as guilty.
After the panning I gave to Revlon’s latest mascara, it’s really good to see the company back on form with this lovely seasonal range. Do look out for it when next you go shopping, and try out Lipgloss and Glitz.
Advantages: Brilliant for day or eve. Great look. Disadvantages: Bit tacky when just applied.
...it going to a specialist Revlon counter as it seems that other shops seem to just stock about 7 or 8 colours out of the full range. 5/10 - The product is easy to find but the full range is not as easy to find.

It looks like a short fat pencil in the colour of the product inside it. One end has a clear lid and the other end has a twisty bit that you turn to make ... ...see it in the shop they can often look much because people have twisted too much product out. I use mine normally so mine is still all clean. This might be a problem for people who have children who like to play with makeup but I guess they could make a mess with anything! It is nice and compact so it will fit into very small bags and because it is the colour of the product it is not another black thing that disappears in a bag with black lining!!

...and fresh looking. Revlon done a great range of coloured lip glosses, and this is what I settled on. They add a hint of colour, and provide a shimmer to your lips, whilst still looking light and summery.

Revlon do a wide range of colours in this range. It would be impossible for me to list them all. I am sure that whatever colour you desired, you would be able to find it.
There are different reds, browns, pinks. Then there are the more vibrant colours like, yellow, black, blue. Then there are other colours like, purple, silver, clear, glitter.
All of them provide a nice shimmer ...

...sounds about right for a Revlon product.
Revlon Colorstay comes in a clear tube with a gold wand applicator. Inside the tube the product is visible - in this case it is a shockingly bold red, a true pillarbox shade. Revlon Lip Gloss has always been my favourite but when they brought out their new range I was estatic. They had fantastic colours that were sexy and chic! as I tend to suffer from cracked, dry lips I am terribly fussy when it comes to products for my lips. As some lipglosses can make them look worse. However, this particular gloss was fantastic for me it glides on your lips and feels sensational! the only thing I found to complain about it was the ... ...it was nearly £7.00 although, I certainly felt it was worth it. However, now that it has been out for a while now the last trip I made to Boots recently I noticed that the price is now more reasonable, £4.99, so I found myself purchasing another 3 in different colours. The gloss is also very managable to apply as you get just the right amount with only one pump of the wand. ...

However, one afternoon, I was lying on the sofa eating Pringles and waiting for Friends to come on when an advert for Revlon Super Lustrous Lipgloss came on, advertised by Julianne Moore. Now, Julianne Moore... I don't know what it is about her but I want some of her earth-mother, hippy, etheral magic. Can you imagine her running around at 8am trying to find a pair of low-rise knickers to go with her jeans, brushing her teeth at the same time and tripping over her shoes? No I didn't think so - she probably gets up to meditate at 5am and sorts out her outfit for the next day the night before! In short, she's the person I want to be!
Anyway anyway, being the pathetic advertiser's dream I am, I rushed off to Boots the next day to buy this lipgloss. Hey, if it would give me some of that glamorous, gorgeous sheen that Julianne Moore has, then I ...
Advantages: It was on a 3 for 2 offer Disadvantages: See op
In my campaign to avoid the perfume counter in Boots I found myself in the make up section instead a good 10 metres from temptation I'll add! Revlon the manufacturer that gave us the delightful Charlie ( note sarcasm here please!) isn't my first choice in cosmetics in fact it's not my second nor my third choice. If it had not been for the nice sign in eye catching red saying 3 for 2 I'd have hurriedly passed by as I have on countless other occasions but the lure of 3 for 2 was too much. After a perusal of the available items I hurriedly rushed past the Perfume counter with only a quick spray of Eternity Purple Orchid -rather nice I'll add and paid for my items.
Revlon manufacture at present two kinds of lip gloss in their lip glide range - a normal one and a sheer range. With 16 colours from siren reds to muted browns there probably ...
RevlonLip Glide Sheer Lip Gloss
Wow what a mouthful! But very worth it, this has got to be my best find in make up products for ages. I love lip-glosses but some of them can be a little too kiddie for my liking. I guess not everyone enjoys banana flavoured lip-gloss or it might just be me. I was looking for something a little more grown up, something I wouldn?t be embarrassed to take out of my handbag when I?m out on the razzle!
This is just perfect! RevlonLip Glide Lip Gloss (breathe!) comes in sixteen mouth watering colours, but I was looking for something neutral and went for Sheerly Blossom number 7.
