Revlon Perfect Pedicure

Revlon Perfect Pedicure is one of those 'cheat' items that just make that little bit of difference when you really need them! They are simply false toenails which can be applied in literally a couple of minutes to give, you (the clue is in the name!) a perfect pedicure.

I have had problems with my toenails, which are very thin and often do not look as nice as I would like. I have tried hiding them under layers of nail varnish, but it only disguises them a little - I have never been able to achieve toenails to be proud of. It takes a lot of the fun out of wearing sandals and flip flops when you know your toenails are letting your look down so when I came across Revlon's false toenails I thought they were definitely worth a try! Best of all, when I have been wearing them, some of my most image conscious friends have complimented me on my toenails and have been genuinely astonished when I've admitted they are false. Lots of people don't seem to realise you can even get false toenails, which is great as no one ever suspects they are not my own!

What you get:

Perfect Pedicure comes in a black box with a plastic viewing window through which you can see 5 of the toenails arranged. The colour of the toenails on display is, logically enough, the colour you are getting! I believe they come in a variety of colours but the only ones I have really seen are bright red and natural French Manicure. I have bought the French Manicure ones but have not tried the coloured ones. However, you could easily paint them any colour you wanted as you would normal nails.

In the box you get 48 nails in 12 different sizes. You simply pick the nail sizes that suit you and away you go. Inevitably there will be nails that do not fit you which will never be used but that is the side effect of being given so much choice! I find that the larger nail sizes are no use for me but on occasion when I have been in a fix I have cut them down to size. It's not ideal but it provides a temporary fix if you're desperate! The thing that sets Perfect Pedicure apart from the other false toenails out there is that you get twice as many nails in a box, which gives you a lot more choice and ensures the pack lasts longer.

The pack also includes a 3g bottle of glue, a small plastic suction tool for placing the nails on and holding them while they set, and some nail art stickers. I have never used the nail art as I prefer the natural look but they're very cute and I'm sure would look nice on.

I find that the best place to find Perfect Pedicure is usually eBay, where you can buy it for about £5-7 pounds. This is about the same cost as the other brands, but you only get 24 nails in most of them, so Perfect Pedicure offers much better value! Obviously it is cheaper to simply paint your nails but if your nails are not great these false nails are probably the best value alternative. Also, it is actually quicker to apply the false nails than it is to paint your nails, so if I am in a real hurry I will often use them instead of polish.

They usually last for about a week, which is not bad I think. You get about 3-4 sets out of the pack, depending on how many sizes of nail suit your toes.

How to use:

1./ File and buff your nails to achieve a smooth surface.
2./ Sort out the nails so you know which size is suitable for each toe.
3./ Apply a reasonable covering of glue to the nail, being very careful as it is essentially just superglue and so is very sticky and fast-setting!
4./ Use the small suction tool to pick up the first false nail and press it firmly down onto the nail. I found that after the first couple of uses the suction tool didn't work any more to pick them up, so I now put the nail in place with my fingers (very carefully!) and then use the tool to hold it in place while it sets.
5./ Press down firmly for a few seconds until nail has set in place. Often in helps if you press down more towards the base of the nail as then it sets better and positions the nail more naturally.
6./ Repeat for all your toes and then, if necessary, trim the ends to fit.
7./ To remove, soak the nail in nail varnish remover until it dissolves - do not pull it off or you risk taking your own nail off with it, or at very least damaging it.

Disadvantages:

So far so good, but there are one or two disadvantages. I find that the nails do not always stay in place and have lost nails on more than one occasion. I now know to carry the glue and a couple of spare nails in my handbag in case of such emergencies! Not ideal at all, and the main reason I have only given this great product four stars. Also, I think it is not as widely available as I would like - I have only ever bought them off eBay but they may be available in Boots (I can't find them on their website though).

Conclusion:

Overall, I would highly recommend them for those unlucky people who like me, have less than perfect nails. They are a quick fix, so their miracles will only last for a limited time but I think they're more than worth it for the beautiful natural-looking nails they give you. So many people who have seen me wearing them have complimented me on my gorgeous nails and so far no one seems to have suspected that they are not real! I think I am probably being a bit mean only giving them four stars but when a single nail occasionally comes off it is very annoying so for that alone I simply cannot give them five stars! Still very much a worthwhile addition to any girl's beauty collection!
