Advantages: Fruity flavour, less calories, often on offer Disadvantages: Can be pricey if consumed frequently (when not on offer)
I used to love Ribena as a child, especially the ones in the little cartons. But once you start doing your own shopping you really notice how prices change and how expencive it can get. You also notice that one drink contains a lot of sugar and calories. When I came across the concentrate version of 'Really Light' Ribena it was the perfect solution for a refreshing drink.

A 1L bottle of Ribena Really Light will cost you around £2.47 (Tesco) which may seem quite expencive. However, you only need a small amount of the concentrate in your glass to make yourself a fruity drink and top the rest up with water. Depending on how strong you want your drink, this bottle can give you 10-20 glasses of Ribena so it works out quite well financially. They suggest approximately one part concentrate to 4 parts water. These have recently been on offer and are currently selling at £2.99 buy one get one free.
We all know water is good for us and that we should be aiming to drink around 8 glasses a day, but for some people plain water can be quite hard to drink in such quantities. Ribena is a great way of getting around this. It has a rich blackcurrent flavour, which you can make as weak or as strong as you want, and is very fruity & refreshing.
Compared to original Ribena which contains 46 calories per 100ml, Really Light contains only 4 calories. Squash drinks like these get some flack for their sugar content so this is more tooth-friendly.
Not only are you getting water, you're also getting a drink which is rich in vitamin C with antidioxidants, made with real fruit juices and contains no artificial colours.
I really like this drink and can't taste the difference between this and the original. It still has a rich blackcurrent flavour which is freshing and works wonders to quench your thirst.
