Ricardo Zonta who entered Formula I racing after showing much promise in sportscar racing has not really lived up to his team's expectations. In this year's championship he has only managed a single sixth place thus obtaining a solitary championship point. He has been outshone by his team mate the Canadian driver Jacques Villeneuvre who has garnered 11 championship points for the ambitious and fast improving BAR tream. Generally Ricardo's qualifying ... ...In the Austrian grand prix Ricardo shunted the great Michael Schumacher out of the race at the first corner whilst at the German grand prix at Hockenheim Zonta collided with his own team mate. Jacques was understandably very annoyed as he was handily placed for aadding to his championship points total.
Ricardo has not yet delivered the goods and it will be interesting to see whether BAR retain his services for the 2001 season and beyond. more

Ricardo Zonta could be in line for a job swap with Olivier Panis, who replaced him at BAR yesterday. Zonta has admitted he has been offered Panis’ job as McLaren test driver for next year, and has also been approached by Jordan about fulfilling a similar role for them. Lets all thank Ricardo for closing the drivers championship right back up again. After all if he had not punted Schummi into the gravel at A1 ring, we might be witnessing a Scumacher demonstration of domination. Its good to see poor drivers can still make it in formula 1. He should have bumpers on his car the way he drives. He has not driven well since he had that damaged ankle in Brazil last year when he (suprise, suprise) fell off the course. He ...

Advantages: Excellent history in GT racing. Disadvantages: Probably would be better in GT racing.
Ricardo Zonta, to describe his formula one career to date as uninspiring may be a little cruel but not wholly inaccurate. Following an FIA GT drivers and constructors championship victory with Mercedes, Ricardo may well have felt he had finally made it when he got a drive with the new and highly anticipated Formula One team BAR. However not only has the cars reliability been flawed, its performance not quite up to scratch (excluding recent performance ... ...team mate like Villeneuve however Ricardo has failed to deliver. With Villeneuve deciding to stay at BAR he may have some good talent to learn from, but it may be a little too late. Whilst I have the greatest respect for Ricardo and would love to see him in a car that is well on the pace. The image of an also-ran springs to mind and I fear he may be better returning to what he did best, which was the pinnacle of Sportscar racing. ...

if you can call a driver poor in formula 1,this haas to be one of them. i say this because you have to be a good driver to cope with the extremely fast races and a lot of skill and training is needed for any driver.zonta has not performed well for the newcomers,picking up just 1 of the teams 12 point so far this season. zonta has not had the best of luck reliabilty wise,as his car often fails to finish,and when it does, it is often out of the points. ...

Have you any wool? No, but I do have a multi million pound Formula 1 operation that does not seem to be able to compete with the big boys. Is it me or did everyone expect a lot more from the British American Racing team by this point of the season. What is the problem down to?
Do you remember the boast of "We will qualify in pole for our first race!" No. You will go to the back of the field with 2 crap cars. Poor old Jacques! He has signed up for 2 more years of hell with the Honda works, ooops, sorry, British American racing team. He must be mad. RicardoZonta has had flashed of brilliance but these have been overshadowed by lack lustre perfomances on a regular basis. Most noteably at the A1 ring by shunting everyone off.Schumi included. At least he has made the Championship more exciting. ...

Mika Salo was an able replacement for Michael Schumacher following the German?s horrific crash as Silverstone, as he picked up 10 points from six races to lend valuable support to Eddie Irvine?s title charge.
Salo began the 1999 season as a test driver for BAR Supertec but drove in three races as cover injured RicardoZonta. His stand-in performances for Ferrari persuaded Peter Sauber to pursue his signature and take the seat of veteran Jean Alesi for his seventh year of Formula One. Salo is often outqualified by Diniz and needs to regain the form of previous seasons. ...

Advantages: Outstanding driver in Jacque Villeneuvre Disadvantages: Non competitive and poor reliability
The UK-based BAR FormulaI team was launched amidst a blaze of publicity several years ago and in the opinion of a number of observers was expected to quickly emerge as a competitive team.This reputedly well-funded team was able to secure the services of the highly talented Canadian driver and former world champion Jacque Villeneuve as their No I driver.
Unfortunately BAR performed poorly in last year's grand prix season and finished pointless. This season things have improved slightly and the team have secured several points but are still not challenging even the middle order teams. Jacques has as his team mate the young Brazilian driver RicardoZonta.
The poor run of results have reputedly led to Jacque considering a move to a more competitive tream. If this should happen the BAR team are highly likely to continue to face ...
