Ricardo Zonta who entered Formula I racing after showing much promise in sportscar racing has not really lived up to his team's expectations. In this year's championship he has only managed a single sixth place thus obtaining a solitary championship point. He has been outshone by his team mate the Canadian driver Jacques Villeneuvre who has garnered 11 championship points for the ambitious and fast improving BAR tream. Generally Ricardo's qualifying times too have been far from impressive. He is also not the most popular driver on the Formula I circuit just now. In the Austrian grand prix Ricardo shunted the great Michael Schumacher out of the race at the first corner whilst at the German grand prix at Hockenheim Zonta collided with his own team mate. Jacques was understandably very annoyed as he was handily placed for aadding to his championship points total. Ricardo has not yet delivered the goods and it will be interesting to see whether BAR retain his services for the 2001 season and beyond.
