Morphy Richards Rice cooker - Too clever for me!

Advantages: An easy way to cook rice dishes
Disadvantages: Not suitable for small families due to the minimum cooking quantity

...I settled on the Morphy Richards 48744 as to be honest that was the only one offered on the fact finders website and I thought I would use up some of my points. . The Rice and Pasta cooker is a mirrored silver colour with black handles with a toughened glass lid with a black handle and a steam hole. The cooker is 21 cm high without lid or 24cm with the lid and 28cm in diameter plus handles makes it 36cm. The cable is 90cm long. It fits nicely into ...
...tested before it leaves the Morphy Richards factory and is guaranteed for 2 years. . My findings . I have had the machine for a few months now and it has been used a few times to cook rice or pasta. One thing I wish I had have known before I ordered this machine was that the minimum amount of rice that can be cooked is 4 measuring cups full, bearing in mind that the back of my packet of Basmati rice, it recommends about 75 grams per person ...

Went moldy

Advantages: Can leave to cook while you go out and do something else
Disadvantages: This one went moldy

...my return home and and despite following instructions the terracotta pot glaze crackled and went moldy after less than 4 uses - not quite the 20 years of service managed by my holiday home find. I contacted Morphy Richards but because I had lost my receipt they wouldn't replace it. ...

Why didnt i Get One Years Ago !!!!!

Advantages: Dinner is ready when you get home. Easy to use
Disadvantages: NONE

I bought this model from Sainsburys at a pricely sum of £20. Best money spent by far. This model has 4 settings, high, medium, low and off. Dont know why i didnt get one of these years ago. I have heard about them but always assumed they were hard work and a little bit old fashioned, until I stayed with a friend who used one all the time, so i purchased myself one and my life is transformed. (slight exaggeration, but you get the gist !!!) Usually ...
...you dont have time you could always prepare the night before and put in the fridge. You can even make it up in the pot, put the lid on the keep that in the fridge and then just transfer to the unit and switch on and go. Be careful not to put anything in thats too hot or too cold as this will crack the pot. Also never put the unit on to warm while preparing. This uses very little electricity therefore, is quite economical to run, I would say cheaper ...

Slow Cooker - can't do without mine!

Advantages: able to cook things like beef casseroles and oxtail slowly so that the meat is really tender.
Disadvantages: None.

I am now using my 2nd slow cooker and cannot do without it. I used to have a small 3litre one which my son [single] has now and I have gone for the larger one. It is marvellous for soups, casseroles, stews. They are easy to use, use less power than a conventional saucepan on the stove top. Convenience is top of my list. I go to work and know that supper will be ready when it comes to dish up time. Durability/Safety - as long is it is looked after ...
...if not a lifetime - then a good many years. I find it very safe, can't imagine what could go wrong. The manual also has some good recipes to follow. The item I draw the line at is making porridege overnight, tried it, did not like the result so it fed my rubbish bin that day. I would not change mine for anything. ...

The Rice is Right!

Advantages: Cooks rice well, easy to use, the bowl is totally non stick which is great
Disadvantages: Looks a bit cheap, takes a few attempts to get used to

...I ended up with the Cookworks Rice Cooker, and being on a half price offer, it only cost me £9.99. What did I have to lose? The Cooker Being cheap, it isn't the most aesthetically pleasing electrical appliance you are going to have in your kitchen. The main body of the cooker is white plastic which is slightly garish, but never mind. There is a clear glass lid with a big white knob on the top, 2 plastic handles on the sides of the main unit, ...
...on the front in blue writing, which does look a little cheap, but then again for £9.99, you can't expect all that much. It doesn't look too bad on my worktop, and it does the job that is asked of it, so I can't moan too much really. Some of the more expensive ones are better looking, but I don't want to pay money just for something looking nicer. You get a plastic cup and spatula with the product too. How To Use It The rice cooker is very simple ...
