I can't cook, so why get me this!! Advantages: novelty idea, looks good.... Disadvantages: just another slow cooker. Well yet another, quite frankly strange christmas pressie recieved....a curry slow cooker. I got to admit when i opened the lovely wrapping paper, i had a bit of a shock! I can't cook, so what the hell was i supposed to do with it? I sat there thinking how much could i get for it on Ebay, when t'other halfs mum said to me "Now you can learn to be a proper woman and cook for my boy!" Pah i thought....i'd bloody show her!!! Anyway, this reviews about ... ...DESIGN*** Yes it's another slow cooker, but it's a good looking, different one at least.....A mattt black "bowl" with shiny purple edges, handles and setting knob, with the usual clear, glass lid. Saying it looks good is one thing, but i'd love to find someone who has a kitchen this would actually look good in!! It's not the biggest slow cooker, so easy to store, and not an eyesore when being used....it doesn't get in your way. From an eastern perspective Advantages: cooks rice perfectly Disadvantages: not multi functional Before talking about this Kenwood rice cooker, I would like to talk about cooking rice from an eastern perspective. Growing up in the Far East, it is hard for me to imagine why a lot of western people boil rice in large quantity of water and throw the water away (I know rice is cooked differently in places like Italy or Spain but I'm not going into that). Our mothers always told us that by doing the above, all the flavour and nutrients are gone ... ...looked around and bought this Kenwood rice cooker. This can cook up to 6 cups of rice, which means 12 portions. The rice cooker comes in 3 parts. Outside is a white ceramic type of pot with a round metal right in the centre at the bottom, which is the heating devise. Inside is a non-stick bowl where you put the rice in. Finally, it's the glass lid which you can see through. The cord is not detachable. Morphy Richards Rice cooker - Too clever for me! Advantages: An easy way to cook rice dishes Disadvantages: Not suitable for small families due to the minimum cooking quantity ...I settled on the Morphy Richards 48744 as to be honest that was the only one offered on the fact finders website and I thought I would use up some of my points. . The Rice and Pasta cooker is a mirrored silver colour with black handles with a toughened glass lid with a black handle and a steam hole. The cooker is 21 cm high without lid or 24cm with the lid and 28cm in diameter plus handles makes it 36cm. The cable is 90cm long. I have had the machine for a few months now and it has been used a few times to cook rice or pasta. Went moldy Advantages: Can leave to cook while you go out and do something else Disadvantages: This one went moldy ...my return home and and despite following instructions the terracotta pot glaze crackled and went moldy after less than 4 uses - not quite the 20 years of service managed by my holiday home find. I contacted Morphy Richards but because I had lost my receipt they wouldn't replace it. ...
