From an eastern perspective
Review of Kenwood RC305 by
vids
Advantages: cooks rice perfectly
Disadvantages: not multi functional
Before talking about this Kenwood rice cooker, I would like to talk about cooking rice from an eastern perspective.
Growing up in the Far East, it is hard for me to imagine why a lot of western people boil rice in large quantity of water and throw the water away (I know rice is cooked differently in places like Italy or Spain but I'm not going into that). Our mothers always told us that by doing the above, all the flavour and nutrients are gone ... ...looked around and bought this Kenwood rice cooker. This can cook up to 6 cups of rice, which means 12 portions.
The rice cooker comes in 3 parts. Outside is a white ceramic type of pot with a round metal right in the centre at the bottom, which is the heating devise. Inside is a non-stick bowl where you put the rice in. Finally, it's the glass lid which you can see through. The cord is not detachable.
To cook rice, you first use the cup to measure ...

wicked slowcooker
Review of Morphy Richards Slow Cooker by
Wjww
Advantages: size, easy to clean, value for money
Disadvantages: none
I brought my morphy richards in the debenhams blue cross sale january 2007, at an excellent bargain price of £20, excellent value.
Lovely stylish silver colour, shape and design.
The slow cooker comes with removeble lid and dish, very easy cleaning, as the dish is non stick. Also has large capacity for food inside.
The glass lid is glass, so you can even watch it cooking without removing the lid if ya hanging around at home.
It has three heat ... ...want the food to cook, but the slower you cook the better. food generally comes out better on the medium setting. Set it to your desired tempreture and of you go
You can make anything from soups, sauces, stews, curries, or even roast joints. So an excellent kitchen accesorise if you are out at work all day and want that perfect evening meal, and cooked and ready for you when you open the door.
I do find it better if you cook of the meat slightly ...

Rice cooking made easy - or is it?
Review of Cookworks RCG1500 Round R/Cooker White by
larsbaby
Advantages: Cheap, apparently easy to use once you get the hang of it
Disadvantages: I got a faulty unit and wasn't prepared to risk it again with a new one
NTRODUCTION
Due to a bit of Christmas net shopping, I had a £10 gift voucher from Argos burning a hole in my pocket and needing to be used by February. As this is pretty soon, I racked my brains for something I needed, and I came up with this, as I always seem to run out of pots big enough for cooking fair amounts of rice, and my mum keeps on raving about how good rice cookers are. This particular model seems to be exclusive to Argos. It was half ... ...I thought this worth reviewing as it's a gadget I've always fancied yet never been fully convinced of its merits. Since it's effectively free I can't go wrong, so is it an experiment that has been worth carrying out? We are about to see.
PACKAGING
The Cooker comes neatly packed in a light blue cardboard box with several pictures of the cooker on it; the glass cooker lid is on top, encased in a plastic bag, and protected by some polystyrene. The ...

Chopsticks optional
Review of Tefal RK700015 Round R/Cooker S/Steel 3IN by
J----
Advantages: Perfect rice every time,
Disadvantages: Don't cook 'quick cook' rice in it as it comes out as a sticky mess
...RK700015 also known as the Tefal Electronic Multi Cooker. This is a combined rice cooker, slow cooker and steamer. It is a fairly compact round machine; its dimensions are 29 x 28 x 28 cm (H, W, D) so it doesn't take up much space; about the same as a large saucepan. It has a very large capacity and can cook up to 10 cups of rice which is enough for 10 portions. In litres this equates to a volume of 3.2. 1 level cup holds approximately 150 grams ... ...start to start cooking. The Tefal automatically works out the time depending on the amount of rice and water. It also stops the cooking process once all the water has been absorbed and will move into the 'keep warm' stage and the orange LED pops on at this stage. When delaying he start you use the time key to programme the interval you want and then the start key to set it.
Once you are used to its basic operations you can mess about with it a bit ...
