...The first thing many readers will think when looking at this review is "oh my god" how ugly is that camera?", and possibly as a secondary thought, "who the hell are Ricoh, didn't he once manage Arsenal?". The answers to these questions are so obviously yes, it is a ugly mother of a camera and no, that was Bruce Rioch, but I stray from the subject matter so on with my thoughts on the camera.
Cost & Availability:
I will admit here, I don't own the RicohCaplioR6, but I have used it regularly now for over 4 months both larking around and while giving serious demonstrations to the potential buyers. More often than not the price is a big turn off with most customers. We are an independent electrical retailer and we have this item tagged at £279.99 in our shop but this does include a 2GB memory card.

Advantages: fast, good pictures, good battery life Disadvantages: ugly
...I decided to take the Nikon 3200 that I reviewed yesterday back to Jessops, and exchange it for the RicohCaplio G3, which is an equivalent digital camera by a manufacturer that I trust, even if they don't have as good a reputation ias Nixon.
I have used the Ricoh RDC-2 for a long time, and it is a great camera. I will probably continue to use the RDC-2 alongside this G3 because they're both good for different things. The G3 is higher resolution, but the RDC-2 is more forgiving.
Anyway, enough waffle - the RicohCaplio G3 is a much better camera than the Nikon 3200 in almost all respects in my opinion.

...After doing some research on the web I purchased an RR120 a few years ago to take on holiday. Picture quality was good and it seemed a good buy.
My farther-in-law liked the look of it and also bought one. Three months later he had to send his back after it started clicking then stopped working. Ricoh sent a replacement which worked for just under a year before the same thing happened to that.
Mine developed the same fault after about 18 months so I took it apart to locate the fault. The auto focus/zoom intermediate transfer gearing is made of cheap plastic and is a push-fit with nothing to secure it in place. If the camera gets a slight - and I mean slight - knock in the wrong place one of the pinions pops out of place. Picked this up nearly 3 months ago now as my third compact digital after having a kodak for my first then a canon IXUS 500 after that.
