The MP7040A is a rewritable drive which can write and rewrite at 4x and read at 24x. The speed is still good, even though this product isn't the latest, and I find the drive extremely reliable. The front of the drive is clean and nicely designed, with minimal extras - just a headphone socket, volume control and an eject button. I use the drive quite a lot to record various bits of data, depending on the need and I rarely have any problems. Overburn ... ...cram as much data on each CD as you can. The drive also comes with PacketCD software and a registered version of Nero - a CD burning package. I did have a problem with a broken drive tray when I got the drive and I found the support excellent - they sent me a new drive with minimal fuss. ...
