Advantages Taste good, low calorie, soothing effect, natural ingredients.

Disadvantages Nothing

My job involves doing a lot of talking so I often end up with a sore throat and in need of a throat sweet or two to get me through the day. I usually stick to whichever lozenges I see first in Tescos (Halls Soothers, Strepsils, Tunes etc) but when I saw these in Holland and Barrett recently I thought I might as well give them a try.

I paid £1.69 for a 45g box which contained 19 drops. They come in a cardboard box similar to a cigarette packet but slightly smaller, which is very handbag friendly although it does mean that the sweets rattle around when there aren't many of them left in there. The box describes the sweets as 'Refreshing and Great Tasting through a mix of 13 Natural Swiss herbs' and states that the drops contain vitamin C and no artificial colours or flavours. I was attracted to the use of natural ingredients in these drops as I often find that throat sweets can taste very artificial and medicinal, so I thought I'd give these a go.

Taste-wise, I was intrigued by the idea of 'LemonMint' flavour sweets as I didn't think that the two flavours would go very well together. I was wrong though, and the combination of flavours makes these drops really refreshing. I'd say the main flavour is lemon, with a subtle minty taste that comes through after sucking for a few seconds. Unlike many other throat sweets, these do not taste medicinal, and I could actually see myself eating these just as sweets!

As well as tasting good, these herb drops do the job and soothe my throat when it's feeling a bit sore. I'd probably use a stronger sweet (e.g. Strepsils) if I had a really sore throat, but these are really good if you've just got a bit of a sore throat.

As these are sugar free, an additional bonus of these lozenges is that they each contain just 6 calories (per 2.5g drop) and no fat. My box has a use by date of October 2014, although I'll definitely have eaten them all long before then!

Overall, I'd definitely recommend these drops.
