***Packaging***
Well it is the same as any other Nintendo DS game. The box is sturdy with the protective cover over the inlay cover. The actual detail on the cover is lacking. It does not have the standard multiplayer compatibility icon. However it does have the equivalent in writing. There are two screenshots of the game on the back of the cover along with the usual legal information and a very short blurb.
... ...It explains the game play simply and in suitable headings. Also describes some of the environments you can choose and gives some tips on game play. I think it is one of the best instruction booklets I have seen in DS games. (Though I'm really not sure how many people actually read them)
***Game Play***
Personally I was disappointed with the game. There are no great graphics, it is not really all that advanced or further developed as you would expect ...

Advantages: Fast, Addictive, Good use of touch screen Disadvantages: Poor Graphics, Lack of unlockables, Bad difficulty settings
Ridge Racer DS was one of the first racers on the DS. It comprises the same elements as your bog standard racer, some may not enjoy this as they can't use weapons or nitrous etc. But it is still a good game; you race very quickly with a very good frame rate, and the AI can sometimes be pretty hard to beat. With clever, mapped out winding courses, going up and downhill you have to be tactical about speed changes and racing line, making this yet more ... ...either the stylus or thumb pad u move the steering wheel on the bottom screen as if you were driving normally. This adds a great feel to the races and it sucks you into the game even more. The disappointing aspect of the touch screen controls is that they are used as difficulty settings, therefore not actually making the AI harder, which is bad as I find it easier on the 'Normal' setting using the stylus, which is meant to be harder than just using ...

Advantages: drift path Disadvantages: graphics for surrounding have small limit
Ridge racer is good, it is such an easy game to play even as a beginner. The race has a drift path, so you just have to control the drift and the game will carry it around. The graphics are good and the scenery is quite real just doing a slow lap will enable you to be able to see the scenery with detail, but only close up. The game is great with a good selection of cars and tracks. The NOS function makes the game even better with drifting as your ... ...speeds the speed and everything up, and makes the fastest cars even faster. I have played it and I am close to beating the game. The number of tours is great with 4 big tours and about an average of 13 race groups in each tour consisting of 2-4 races. ...

Having now played the much hyped ridge racer 2 I thought it was time I told the reviewing commuinity exactly what i thought of it. Its at this point I try to think of an interesting way to introduce the subject and to grab your attention about new gaming more
If you enjoy Ridge Racer and aren't too fussed about change, you are likely to enjoy Ridge Racer 7. It's more of the same, yet again, but if you dig that you'll no doubt dig Namco's latest. I'm going to echo those sentiments with the multiplayer... more
I have only played this game once, of a friends.
I would recommend the game for children around 5+.
The game is very childish but not the easiest to navigate on and get into races.
