If you've read my opinion on Avon Color Trend glitter mascara, you'll know that I was disappointed with the results that it gave . Then, glitterprincess recommended Rimmel Crystal Tip to me, so I gave it a try.
The Crystal Tip mascara is part of the RIMMEL LONDON 2002 HOLIDAY COLLECTION, which is a collection of different make up products in neon shades.
~ Packaging ~
Rimmel Crystal Tip mascara is packaged in a clear tube with a silver lid. You can see the sparkly silver mascara through the clear tube.
There's not much information on the tube, there's no ingredients, no application instructions, no description of the product etc. It just says
'Apply to lashes, brows or hair',
along with the name of the mascara and the contact details of the company.
~ The Mascara ~
When you unscrew the lid of the mascara, you'll see the brush of the mascara is much thinner than an average mascara brush. It's quite long, and covered in the mascara. The mascara itself is silver in colour and very sparkly. The mascara itself is quite thick, and you can see the tiny pieces of glitter in it.
The brush is covered with mascara when you first take it out of the tube. I find I have to wipe a little of the excess mascara off the brush before I apply it, else it applies too thickly.
However, the results are worth it. When I had applied the mascara, and it had dried, my lashes looked longer. The glittery effect was not too over glittery, as I only applied one coat of the mascara. The glitter made my lashes shiny and they sparkled when they caught the light. If you wanted a more glittery look, you should apply more than 1 coat.
Whenever I use a glitter eye make up product, I always seem to get loads of glitter all down my face during the day. With this mascara, I got a little around my eyes and on my eyelids, where it touched before the mascara had dried, but it wiped off easily.
The mascara lasts all day, but the glittery effect is more noticable within a few hours of applying the mascara. The mascara removed easily with my normal eye make up remover.
The tube says that you can apply this mascara to your lashes, brows and hair, but so far I've only worn it on my lashes and tried it in my hair, because I don't want glittery eyebrows... When I tried it on my hair, the glitter showed up well, and will obviously show up more in in darker hair. It's quite hard to achieve an even look with the glitter in long hair, though it's okay for a few streaks.
~ Overall ~
Overall, I think the mascara would be good for a special occasion, because it gives a different look, which looks especially good when it catches the light. It makes a nice change from brown or black mascara. It does take a little while to get both eyes to look the same, like the same amount of glitter on each eye, but the results are worth it.
This mascara gave good results, it was better than the Avon glitter mascara as it gave more glitter and seperated the lashes better. You can choose how much glitter you want your lashes to have depending on how many coats you apply.
Overall, I would recommend this mascara to you, especially if you wanted a different look for a special occasion.
This mascara cost me £4.99, when I bought it form Superdrugs, but it can also be purchased from Boots, chemists and other shops that sell Rimmel products.
