~ What do Rimmel say about this eye shadow? ~
* A micro-filled powder eyeshadow (please enlighten me as to what micro-filled means??)
* Glides on easily leaving behind a dazzling colour
* Crease-free
* Lasts up to 8 hours
* Use wet or dry. Using it wet apparantly gives detailed lines and maximum colour intensity.

As Rimmel promise, it does last for hours. I've never meticulously timed it but from 7pm until 2am I have never had to re-apply it.
Another great feature of the shadow is that it is in fact crease-free, an important issue for those of us getting on in life as anything that doesn't highlight the creases is a great bonus!!

I am forever losing or misplacing my make-up. I replace them then find the one that I wanted, hence how I ended up with Rimmel's 'Special Eyes' Duo Eye Shadow Compact.
~ Packaging ~
This comes in a square compact (as shown on the photo). I like the top section as you can see what colours are in it without having to open the lid, a real necessity if like me you leave it until the last minute to apply your make-up.............every second counts before the taxi arrives!!
There are 2 colours in the compact, hence the name 'duo' and a small sponge applicator which I have not surprisingly, lost!!
~ Rimmel's 'Special Eyes' Colour Range ~
This Duo Eye Shadow Range has 16 different options, enough to satisfy most people's eye shadow needs. There are some interesting names in the range, some of which 'shout out' the colours and others don't give you any clue at all e.g:
Spring to Life
Desert
Alive and Kicking
Slow Motion
Spice
Heatwave
Enough said.................. what you need to know is that the colours are in varying shades of the following and a few extra:
I went for what some would say a safe, boring option of 'Metallic Pearls' which is light grey / silver and dark grey with a touch of sheen to them..............how daring of me!!
For further information and colour guide, I've found a very comprehensive website so you can peruse at your leisure and pick which colour best suits your taste. www.ulta.com
~ Price ~
At the time of buying this, there wasn't a Boots or Superdrug nearby and I was desperate so popped in to a very well stocked Chemist in a small village, hence I think the price was a little more than usual. This little pair cost me £4.49.
It's well worth looking on the internet for some great deals, e.g. www.brandedcosmetics.co.uk are selling this product for £1.25 and delivery is free with orders over £10.~ What do Rimmel say about this eye shadow? ~

~ My experience ~Before losing the sponge applicator I did use it but now apply it with my fingertips which although not as precise, the shadow is still easy to apply.
What I like about this product is that you get two colours that complement or contrast each other. I use the lighter shade all over my eyelid and the darker one from the centre outwards, apparantly that's supposed to enhance the size and shape of your eyes.
As Rimmel promise, it does last for hours. I've never meticulously timed it but from 7pm until 2am I have never had to re-apply it.

The colour duo that I plumped for is called 'metallic' and does have a little bit of a sheen to it, ideal for nights out. I'm unsure as to whether the others in the range would have the same shimmer to them.
My only quibble with this shadow in comparison to some of the others that I have used and reviewed is that it does create quite a bit of 'dust' when applied. This sprinkles on to my eyelashes which isn't great before applying mascara and only a very meticulous and steady hand can wipe the 'dust' particles off without affecting the shadow on the eyelid area.
I have given the wet and dry approach a go. I'm not great at make-up artistry and if truth be known made quite a mess with no astounding difference to the final look with the 'wet' approach.
This is a good compact, easy to fit in to an evening bag if you really feel the need to re-apply.
The 4 star rating is based on the 'dust' effect that comes from it which does put me off slightly. But there are a large number of colour ranges available to suit most tastes so well done Rimmel for making an attempt to satisfy most in choices of colour.
Advantages: Great colours which perfectly match each other Disadvantages: Not 100% crease free
...really positive experience with another Rimmel product I felt a level of trust develop with the London brand. Many of Rimmel's products are aimed at a teenage - twenties age group, with Kate Moss as the face of the brand. Although the image never used to appeal to me over the last couple of years the brand has revamped and improved many of their products and I'm one of the new converts from this wave of positive change.
I am a lover of all things ... ...like at 13. I associated Rimmel with that 'old' me and so rejected it up until as late as 2005. This was when I had my first positive experience, and since then I've become a fan.
Among my collection of favourites is my Rimmel Duo Eye Shadow 'Special Eyes' product, of which I now have several hues. This is basically a set of two complementing colours in one package. The idea is that one colour offsets the other, maximising the effect on your eyes. ...

Advantages: crease-proof, cheap Disadvantages: dusty effect on application
These two colours (the duo named Walnut Peals) compliment each other really well or are nice shades just on their own. They can be applied dry for daytime and wet for a more vivid shade at night and they last about eight hours (which is what it says on the compact) if you don't rub your eyes.
One shade is light beige, which I applied to the lower lids of my eyes. The other is a light cocoa brown, which I either applied on the brow bone above the ... ...strokes for it to show this way). I found that wearing the whiter shade on the bottom and browner shade above and blended into the brow bone gave a more striking effect and needed fewer applications than wearing the brown singly. The applicator was quite gentle on my lids and was quite durable (i.e. didn't bobble, or wear through, fall off etc.) The shadow didn't crease and was powdery on application, but settled to a silky feeling matte. I love ...

Advantages: Long wearing, easily blended, easy to remove, does not irritate eyes Disadvantages: Matte
I bought this because my summer job requires all makeup to be neutral and nonobtrusive. Ever one to bend the rules, I decided that this was both of those things! I work in a coffee shop - very busy, hot and sweaty at times! So any eyeshadow HAD to be hard wearing, otherwise I would be forever panda eyed. I tend to apply this as the lighter shade all over my eyelid to a few mm above the crease, then the darker one in the crease. With my Mac blending ...
