The actual mascara comes in a silver stylish looking plastic tube. The text is written in black with a bold title and looks quite expensive. The tube contains 4mls of mascara. Obviously this is aimed at giving extreme defintion to your lashes, hence the EXTREME DEFINITION written across the front of the tube.
When you first get to grips with the mascara make sure ... ...buy it again, and I definitely wouldn’t pay £6.99 for it. There are much better mascaras on the market, which are much more effective.
I wasn’t quite sure what I was buying when I picked this up, I thought it was just your traditional type of mascara, nothing fancy, nothing special, well I got a surprise when I open the tube!
From my past reviews, I’m sure you will have noticed my weak spot for all things cosmetics; this was another addition to my collection.
I paid £2.99 for this; the normal price is £6.99. It’s available in most shops, including super markets. I purchased mine from a discount make up stall in the Metro Centre. I saved myself £4.00 on the normal cost. Nothing better than a bargain!! I have seen this ranged between £5.99 and £6.99, but nothing as cheap as £2.99. It’s quite expensive in comparison with other Rimmel mascaras.

When you first get to grips with the mascara make sure you realise that the lid is actual a pull of type of thing, and don’t sit for ages trying to unscrew it (like I did) give it a good pull, but try and be gentle, or you’ll end up wiping the mascara all over your arm (like I did!). When I first opened the mascara I thought mine was broken, I didn’t realise that the mascara had a toothcomb effect applicator, which looks a lot like an eyebrow/eyelash brush and I expected the more traditional chunky brush. After getting over the initial shock, I noticed the actual reason for this type of brush. The mascara coats the comb when pulled out of the tube, sometimes it may have too much on and you may need to push it in again and hope to get less on when you remove it again.
The application is simple, as with all other mascaras you need to run the brush through your eyelashes. My advice is, ONE COAT!! Two at the most anything more, and you’ll end up with horrible spiders legs that stick together and get all over your face. The mascara goes on easily and does glide well over the lashes, giving a great covering. The lashes are separated and look great. The more mascara you apply the worse it looks, the lashes clump together and look very sticky. So stick with the one to two coats and you’ll be fine.
The mascara colour is great, I chose the black, and it’s very pure and effective. It covers the lashes well and looks very glossy. The mascara did actually separate my lashes, but anymore than two coats and it won’t. The lashes stick together and look very clumpy, and unless that’s the look you want, try to stay away from too many coats. This isn’t like other mascaras; less is definitely more in this case.
The mascara lasts very well throughout the day. It doesn’t flake off and stays on your lashes all day, it’s quite easy to remove, with a little eye make up remover. If you touch your lashes, small pieces of mascara don’t fall off all over your face, which has to be a good thing!
The mascara is great for dramatic eyes, and big sexy lashes. It lengthened my lashes well, and made them noticeable longer and more fanned out.
This mascara isn’t really suitable for quick make up! This is more suitable for women who spend quite a long time applying their make up or for a night out. It takes a while to get used to and you’ll need to know how much your lashes can take without clumping.
One thing I really disliked about the mascara is the strong smell that emerges from the tube when you open it. It smells like very strong glue or plastic, and isn’t very pleasant.
Overall I don’t think this is bad mascara, although I doubt very much whether I would buy it again, and I definitely wouldn’t pay £6.99 for it. There are much better mascaras on the market, which are much more effective.
Advantages: Individual, longer lashes Disadvantages: hard to get rid of
...I use alot from the Rimmel range and know I like it.
I am now on the last few bits of my second mascara and couldn't live without it.
I am a ginger (some of you may know this!) and so my eyelahses are fairly pale, weak and don't really define my eyes at all. Ever since I was 14 and started using make up my eyes never really looked special or different, you could just see that my eyelashes had been darkened. This is what is so great about this product.
... ...depending where you buy. For Rimmel products, I always buy from Superdrug as they seem to usually be about a pound cheaper than boots (it all counts!) an so my second one I bought cost me £4.99. This is quite comparable to the mid range products around, and slightly less than the Maybelline mascara everyone raves about, and I think the Rimmel one is better.
The Packaging
This is what is so special about this product. It looks nice from the outside, ...

"this stuff is a bit good, innit?"
Now don't get me wrong. Extreme Definition mascara is what I'd call an 'aquired taste'. If you do your make-up in 5 minutes and don't really enjoy it, then this stuff will bug the hell out of you, because there is a bit of brush wiping / lash separating to contend ... ...nice, crusty welcome. This is not for people who like soft lashes (try maybelline full & soft for that, the clues in the title) but for those who love a dramatic, long-lasting look.
If this were the 60s, Rimmel would be the Mod, and Maybelline would be the Hippie. ...

Advantages: Lasts all day without flaking! Really great colour. Disadvantages: Takes a while to get used to.
Well I happened to come across this little beauty by chance and I'm glad I did. I was just browsing through Ebay, looking for a mascara, and didn't have any particular brand in mind. I like my eyes to look good and hate clumpy mascara so I usually go for a separating comb applicator. I also think it's quite difficult to find a black mascara that's as dark as I like and this is perfect. So, let's start...
Value for money.
The retail price comes ... ...will vary from shop to shop, so have a good look around before you buy. I got my 4ml tube from Ebay for the tiny price of £1.99 and the postage cost was only around £1.00, which works out at around half the retail price! My advice would be to buy it from Ebay as you probably won't find it cheaper anywhere else. Saying that, you can pick it up from most chemists eg. Superdrug, Boots etc.

Advantages: not as expensive as some mascaras Disadvantages: clumps, comb isnt easy to use, excess mascara on comb, flakes, wet soggy lashes, doesnt lengten, thicken or curl
In my quest to find the perfect mascara I often find myself running out to the shops to grab the latest well advertised mascara! I like my lashes to look thick, long, defined, curled and very black but find that most mascara's I own don't get the desired effect, clump, flake, smudge and irritate my eyes. Seeing various adverts in magazines for this mascara featuring Kate Moss with beautifully defined lashes tricked me into thinking that this new ... ...The mascara has a comb instead of a brush to apply the mascara and at the time this seemed like a genius invention as it claimed to help define the lashes.
I forked out £6.99 for the mascara which wasn't a bad price considering I have found myself paying double that in the past. The mascara comes in the standard mascara colours of brown and black and I brought the black one. The container looks like your standard mascara tube and is silver in colour.

Advantages: separate, long curly lashes in an instant Disadvantages: more than one coat can lead to clumpiness
...what I mean. That Rimmel mascara… you can apply it with a brush that’s like a comb for the ultimate in lash separation… oh come on, you know the one with that magazine advert where Kate Moss is staring out at you with the hugest number of (possibly computer modified) eyelashes you’ve seen in your life? The advert that screams, ‘Don’t you want to look like this?!?!’ There we go, I knew you’d get it eventually. It’s one of those simple ideas that you ... ...little more expensive than most Rimmel mascaras but still not bank-breaking. ~ Endless Length and Lift Mascara ~
I like the packaging / holder for this mascara. It is thin at the tip of the handle and gets wider and wider towards the bottom so it stands easily on it's base.
Not surprisingly, the lid is screw top and the section that fits in to your hand isn't too thin or thick so it's easy to apply the mascara.
I have naturally jet black eyelashes so don't need a mascara for colour but they aren't naturally exceptionally long so this mascara is great for lengthening them and giving them more definition.
The 'lift' part comes with technique! As you apply it lift / push the eyelashes up ...
