Advantages Advantages Easy to use, no fake tan smell and mess

Disadvantages Disadvantages Doesn't last for a fortnight's holiday!

Fab Fake I think that Rimmel's Sunshimmer Instant Tan Make-up is an absolutely brilliant idea. I only ever use fake tan on my legs - I think my face, arms and decollete have enough colour already - and I only use it in the spring and summer months. Mind you, having been on a recent shopping trip which involved matching a top to a summer skirt, I was horrified by the sheer whiteness of my legs. Having lived in jeans and trousers over the winter, now that the milder weather has arrived (stay, oh please stay!), it's time for me to get my legs out. Rimmel's bronzy-brown tube, with the words 'Wash ... more

    Advantages Advantages Quick tan

    Disadvantages Disadvantages Streaky and smelly

I am going to a wedding this weekend, and I'm wearing a knee length white skirt, and a halter neck top. I haven't been on holiday this year, and only managed to spend 1 day in the sun, and that was ages ago. I want to look my best at the wedding, and so something had to be done. Having never used fake tan before, I had always considered it the preferable option over sun beds, as the skin damage factor is obviously much less! I strolled along to my local chemist and had a look at what they had to offer. -----Why I chose this product----- As a fake tan virgin, I was slightly nervous in making my ... more

Advantages Advantages price, can see colour you are applying

Disadvantages Disadvantages consistency, overall result not good

I must admit to the fact that I am a fake tan addict. I have fair hair and blue eyes, but even though I can tan quite well, and am not that pale anyway, I am too scared of damaging my skin by too much sun-bathing. This has led me to try many of the fake tans on the market, as i do tend to put it on every other week, just to perk my apprearance up and give me a healthy sexy. glow. Then i saw 'Sun Shimmer' by 'Rimmel', which i purchased in a 125ml bronzey coloured tube. I had seen the adverts for it and thought it would be worth a try as it was quite reasonably priced, at around £5. It also ... more

Advantages Advantages Cheap, easy to apply, instant, lasts well.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Can be expensive full price, runs in the rain, feels very heavy and clogged.

Being of a very pasty complexion when I head out for a night on the town I like to add a little colour to my skin. For Christmas last year I was given a range of beauty based products and one of them was this 'Rimmel Sun Shimmer Instant Tan'. It seems to be pretty expensive to buy full price at around £6-£8 depending on where it is bought. By having a look around it can often be bought for just £3 in the likes of Superdrug and Boots which also give you the added advantage of being able to to collect the loyalty points. It comes packaged in a tube that is a sort of bronze colour, there are ... more

Advantages Advantages looks natural, goes on easy, smells alright, takes little time, no developing time, CHEAP

Disadvantages Disadvantages watch out for your elbows, don't assume it'll stick when you sweat carry an umbrella

This thing's an absolute godsend. I am not one of the palest people on earth, but I'm also not a bronze angel. I'm that kind of skin colour that suits a tan, but never really gets one in this really nice Scottish drizzle. Anyway I got given this sunshimmer thing a couple of years ago by an aunt who found it all too fiddley to smear it on all the time. She's got a point... it takes time and concentration to avoid the hideous telltale white lines of skin that your wee hands missed on the way to tanheaven. BUT take the time - it's worth it. I find it's good for a quick fix. Someone springs the ... more
