There is a regular version, a curved brush version, a waterproof version and an extreme black version. I bought the extreme black one (the one in a black tube). It's available in black or brown. Brown is better for people with fair skin going for a natural daytime look, but seeing as I have tanned skin, black was the way to go :)

Volume Flash is designed to give the lashes a dramatic look. On the tube it says "INSTANT THICKENING MASCARA 5x volume in a flash!"
So far I have found this product to do just what it claims on the label (though obviously not the "5x" bit - they always exaggerate!). My lashes are very thick and intensely black after using it. It stays put all day without smearing (apart from in the rain, but this isn't waterproof so it's expected!) or flaking, and is very easy to remove. I found that it came off when I washed my face with my normal cleanser before bed.
The best way to apply this mascara is by starting with the wand at the base of the eyelashes and taking the brush upwards through the lashes in a zig-zagging motion. Also it's better to use an eyelash curler first, to give the eyes an opened-up look.
The only disadvantage I have experienced with this mascara is that the first few times I used it, the brush picked up too much product, which left my eyelashes looking very clumpy. Luckily this could be fixed with a lash comb or by wiping the wand before applying it, so it was all good :)
I would recommend Volume Flash mascara as I think it's a good value for money, especially if you're on a tight budget, and it gives the good results that it promises.
Advantages: Easily applied, easily removed, affordable Disadvantages: may clump, doesn't last forever
-RIMMEL VOLUME FLASH MASCARA-
I discovered this product after being introduced to it by a friend at a sleepover, and haven't regretted buying it (which is more than I can say for some pieces of make up i have baught!) Although I must admit I don't stick to a certain product when it comes to make up, I keep coming back to this one.
Heres the lowdown:
*PRODUCT*
The mascara itself is of quite a thick consistency, therefore providing that to DIE ... ...become very messy , so it is important not to touch lashes until they are completely dry. Once dry, the mascara hardens lashes so the thickness remains there until it is removed. However, it is important to know that it isn't as 'isntant' as the packaging claims. The mascara still needs a few coats in order to get that super volumous look. Saying this, be careful not to over-do it, as the product will result in clumpy lashes.

I had bought Rimmel Extra Super Lash Mascara in the past and was happy with the results, so I decided to give Rimmel Volume flash a go aswell.
The first time I bought the product I bought it for £4.95 from Boots (hand your Boots Advantage Card over when buying and receive approx 20 points on your card - that's equivalent to 20p) I bought it again this week where boots currently have an offer on - 2 Volume Flash mascaras for £6, working out ... ...Flash and 1 Waterproof. Then you mascaras for different occasions or even the change in weather!
I realise this offer wont be on forever, but Boots will quite frequently have deals with Rimmel, for example, get a free eyeshadow or eyeliner when you buy a mascara.
The colours available are Brown/Black and Black. I would definitely go for black, as this will give you a fuller look with definite volume. But if you are going for a more natural look, ...

Advantages: Long Sexy Lash's Disadvantages: Short (ish) life span
I use alot of Rimmel products as I cant afford the expensive designer price tag but find cheap alternatives - um - cheap!
Rimmel Volume Flash Mascara can be found almost everywhere you would expect, I have found it in supermarkets, cosmetic stores (e.g. Boots, Superdrugs ...) and my local chemist. The price ranges from £4.50 - £7.99, it is worth shopping around as some places usualy have specails offers on Rimmel products, and obviously some places ... ...of the mascara. Rimmel Volume Flash Mascara is also available in waterproof and extreme black. I found these just as good as the original, the waterproof one was hard to remove but this is usualy the norm with a mascara designed not to come off!!
The only downside is that this mascara is so thick, it doesnt 'live' as long as others. I found that a normal mascara can last up to 6 months without drying out, but after about 3 months this mascara started ...

Advantages: Very cheap, available everywhere Disadvantages: Clumpy
I bought this mascara on a very tight budget (for £3.99) and I have to say for that price I am impressed. It claims to be an 'instant thickening mascara' which gives your lashes 5x the volume.
It comes in a small range of colours, brown, black and a slightly 'darker' black. Of the three I purchased the darkest one and the colour is very good; the mascara seems to be very well pigmented and coats my light lashes thoroughly in just one sweep.
As ... ...fatten your lashes; they definately look longer and fuller. I did find however that unless you are careful it can cause your lashes to stick together and become quite spidery looking.
The packaging is very nice, it is simple and a good size. The brush isn't one of those high tech plastic combs or rubber ones, but just a standard bristled brush; this does the job fairly well but probably contributes to the clumping as it is easily overloaded. It ...

Advantages: Cheap, comes out black Disadvantages: Smudges, impossible to get off, needs a few coats
I've been using Boots No7 waterproof volumemascara for ages, but last week I thought I would try something new. I've been pleased with Rimmel make-up before but had never tried one of the mascaras. It was only £4.90 from Superdrug, which was a lot cheaper than the £9 I'd been paying for No7. I always go for volumemascaras to open up my eyes in the morning when I'm still half asleep! And always waterproof ones which is why I went for this particular one.
Packaging
It comes in a blue bottle, with a modern shape, with RimmelVolumeflash written across it in silver lettering. The bottle is quite a good size and overall it looks good.
The Mascara
The mascara has a thin brush applicator but with really short bristles, almost like one that has already been used loads. I'm not sure if this is a design feature that is ...
than the new, more practical silicon brush that most mascaras now use. I tried to put it on my eyelashes but it smudged EVERYWHERE as it was so thick and almost cream like that it did not stay on my eyelashes and instead progressed to make me look like a complete panda! Also, although this product did not claim to be waterproof, I wasn't expected it to come off and smudge everywhere with the slight drip of water/rain which made it even more of a mess. The applicator made it difficult to apply which just added to the problems.
All in all I would definitely not recommend this mascara, although I do love Rimmel as a brand and they do have some other fantastic mascaras. It just goes to show that if something is on a big sale you have to ask yourself why that is... maybe the product is not as great as you would think!... ...
Advantages: Cheap and cheerful. Good for volume. Disadvantages: Dries out quickly.
This mascara was nice and cheap, easy to apply and didn't clump. You can apply numerous amounts of layers and it didn't seem to taper.
The keratin in the mascara helps strengthen lashes. This meant I didn't need to use my eyelash curlers.
The only other mascara that I've come across that has collagen in it is Maybelline Colossal, another one of my favourites. This mascara was really good for volume. I have very fine, short lashes and this made them thick and long. The only problem I came across was that my one dried out pretty quickly. I find this mascara very good value for money. I would recommend this to people who aren't confident with applying mascara as it is very easy to use and doesn't take long to build up. ...
