And always waterproof ones which is why I went for this particular one.
Packaging
It comes in a blue bottle, with a modern shape, with Rimmel Volume flash written across it in silver lettering. The bottle is quite a good size and overall it looks good.
The Mascara
The mascara has a thin brush applicator but with really short bristles, almost like one that has already been used loads. I'm not sure if this is a design feature that is supposed to make your lashes longer, but I find it makes it worse as there is nothing to hold onto your lashes and comb through to make them longer. Quite a lot of mascara comes off on the brush each time, which I think is quite good as I like to put quite a lot on, and it comes out looking thick and black which in my opinion is good. However every time I put it on it ends up all over my eye lids, I don't know what it is because I've never had this problem before, so it's not that I'm bad at putting it on! I think it's because the mascara is quite watery so it kind of splashes onto your skin while you apply it. This has been really annoying, and I'm having to put it on really slowly and carefully to avoid it, which is not good as I normally like to get ready quite quick! Also because it is quite watery it seems to take ages to dry and can end up smudging.
I also find quite a few coats of the mascara is required to achieve a good effect, which annoys me because I end up taking longer to get ready.
Once the mascara is on and is dry it seems to dry like cement on your lashes. I suppose this could sound like a good thing because it means it stays on, but it isn't! It makes your lashes feel rock solid and like they might snap off! If I touch my lashes while it is on it kind of hurts my eyes like its pulling at my eyelids.
It is impossible to remove at the end of the day too. Again it might sound like I'm moaning about something good, cos at least it doesn't come off during the day. But it is literally solid! Even when I've washed my face and used eye make up remover it is still there, and by then my eyes are really irritated. The mascara I normally use does stay on all day but is fairly easy to remove too, so I'm not used to this.
Overall Opinion
As you've probably gathered I'm really not impressed with this mascara and would definitely not buy it again, it's unlikely I will use the bottle I've bought again after this week! I think I'll go back to my usual mascara! Next time I try something new I'll definitely be checking other ciao reviews, as I've noticed the majority of other reviews on this mascara are negative!! Oh well...
...the ultimate mascara I purchased Rimmel London Waterproof Volume Flash Instant Thickening Mascara. Excellent! My old mascara had run out and this looked like the ideal replacement. I have a very specific criterion when it comes to my mascara and I am very fussy. Unfortunately with this specific brand and type – the Volume Flash range, the only waterproof version is black, fine for me but all the others in the range such as the Volume Flash Curved ... ...not to smudge it.
Rimmel London boasts that this product has a unique “lock and load” formula to bond lashes, as well as being rub resistant, non-sticking and non-clumping. I don’t entirely agree.
That said, it does increase the volume of my lashes and I am very impressed by how long they look when wearing this product.

I had bought Rimmel Extra Super Lash Mascara in the past and was happy with the results, so I decided to give Rimmel Volume flash a go aswell.
The first time I bought the product I bought it for £4.95 from Boots (hand your Boots Advantage Card over when buying and receive approx 20 points on your card - that's equivalent to 20p) I bought it again this week where boots currently have an offer on - 2 Volume Flash mascaras for £6, working out at £3 ... ...1 Waterproof. Then you mascaras for different occasions or even the change in weather!
I realise this offer wont be on forever, but Boots will quite frequently have deals with Rimmel, for example, get a free eyeshadow or eyeliner when you buy a mascara.
The colours available are Brown/Black and Black. I would definitely go for black, as this will give you a fuller look with definite volume. But if you are going for a more natural look, and have ...

I simply love this mascara! What attracted me to this mascara firstly was the packaging, cute and compact. The name alone describes the product perfectly - 'Volume in a flash'. The main thing i like about this product is that it lasts a good while, i only have to buy one every 2-3 months. It doesnt dry up easily and applies like a dream. However you do need to be a dab hand at applying mascara, i wouldnt recommend this for mascara virgins due to ... ...if you are experienced with make up its brill! At first you need a good couple of coats to get a nice results but a few days into the mascara it just glides on. It is good for creating jet black, thick lashes - not brilliant for creating length but if you like your lashes to stand out then this is the mascara for you. It is very waterproof - tried and tested, i have been swimming, in the shower and this mascara has even resisted my crocodile tears!! ...

Personally, I always buy "long-lash" mascaras as I have quite short eyelashes. The first few times you apply this product, the mascara goes on smoothly and does leave lashes looking beautiful and long. However I usually replace my mascara every 4-6 months, this one barely lasted 2 months, and was going "claggy" after only about 2 weeks.
The packaging is nice and compact and pops easily into your handbag or makeup bag. However, as the packaging is ... ...lot less than you would get in a normal mascara and this means the product runs out fast. A plus is that, being so compact more mascara ends up on the wand rather than on the stick, which can happen with a lot of other mascaras. I would have preferred it if the wand's bristles at the top were curved, as this would make application a lot easier: as it is, you need to apply a lot to get the desired long-lash effect.

...been opinions out there about Rimmel mascaras. I have heard a few comments like "Rimmel makes the best mascaras" and other could be facts like, "Victoria Beckham swears by them". I, however, am not so convinced. I have always steered away from Rimmel purely because their packaging is hideous. Around 2006/07 Rimmel's voulme flash mascara featured heavily in magazines as key product to buy. It's main claim was that it gives 5X more volume to lashes ... ...brush comb the lashes? yes. Rimmel past my test. However after a few applications, the wand did get a bit clogged by too much mascara. It was as if the tube was not tapered to take off extra mascara when pulling out the wand. As if I was just dipping a little mascra wand into a industrial size paint pot. This meant spidery thick lashes. Not perfectly fanned and seperated. The waterproof side is very good. It holds a curl well and does not come off... ...

application the difference is amaising, my eyes were so big!!! It gives your lashes the false lash look, which is great for a night out.
I also found I could wear this mascara out clubbing, although this one isnt waterproof it stayed put - so no panda eyes! This is great, but you do have to use a good eye make up remover to take off all traces of the mascara.
RimmelVolumeFlashMascara is also available in waterproof and extreme black. I found these just as good as the original, the waterproof one was hard to remove but this is usualy the norm with a mascara designed not to come off!!
The only downside is that this mascara is so thick, it doesnt 'live' as long as others. I found that a normal mascara can last up to 6 months without drying out, but after about 3 months this mascara started clumping. BUT saying that, if your like me ...

The new waterproofvolumeflashmascara, produced by the famous Rimmel of London, has come up with a new one that is supposed to create volume and is waterproof.
There are two types if colours black and brown, bullet shaped mascara.
The brush is quite thin and bushy.
The key features to this mascara is to create instant thickening to the lashes and to stay waterproof.
I personally have not got on with this one, it was a bit of a let down, I suppose it is more ideal for longer and bushy eyelashes as I only have fine, small lashes.
I found that applying this mascara was annoying because i really could not achieve the volume that it states on the product "super charged lashes in a flash".
Although I love the idea about this one being waterproof as I can wear it when I go swimming because there is nothing worse than coming out ...
