I am one of those people who doesn’t feel properly dressed without her make up. I confess to not leaving the house without at least having smeared on some foundation, lashing on the mascara and I absolutely must have a dash of eye shadow and eye liner otherwise I just look like a plain Jane. I feel a whole lot better and able to face the world when I have got my face on.

Some people like to argue that women use make up as a mask to hide behind when they are self-conscious. I’d just like to state that I think this is a whole load of codswallop. Make up accentuates women’s best features and helps us feel like we have made an effort and in turn we feel good about ourselves. However, if anyone has black circles under their eyes like myself due to one too many late nights than they may well rely heavily on their make up bag like me!!!

The contents of my make up bag are my babies. My irreplaceable Chanel foundation, my collection of MAC products. All up the expensive but good quality end of the market. As you can imagine my love affair with make up can end up getting quite expensive. However, in the past if I had have been out shopping on my lunch break, I would much sooner have spent my money on a new MAC lip-gloss than my lunch!

I first discovered Rimmel products when I was a young teenager keen to experiment with make up. I would save my pocket money and head to town on a weekend to buy the new Heather shimmer lipstick or any other catchy named shade! I soon grew out of Rimmel when snobbery began to surround the make up market. I moved on to all the new trendy brands like clinique and MAC. Not so long ago our paths crossed again. I was in the college shop at Uni when I noticed a Rimmel stand, I was feeling a bit crap that morning and thought that a new lippy may cheer up my three full day of lectures. I grabbed a lippy from the new makeup to go range. It was in a cute little neon pink transparent holder and was called Sugar plum. It was a snatch at £1:99. I stuck it on the old mush and it went on a treat. It was a pale pinky colour with a slight sparkle too it, not too obvious but a nice shade. It was kind of like a candyfloss colour but there was loads more colours in the range. Loads of people commented how nice it looked and it was still on my lips at the end of the day.

Impressed with my cheapo buy I thought that I might just give another Rimmel product a go. Next I went in to Superdrug and bought a black kajal Khol pencil. Then I got another completely free…Hooray! Rimmel is big on offers aswell. The current offer was buy one product from Rimmel and get a free eye pencil. I went for the all in one stick aswell. This cost just £4:99 and acted as a concelor, a foundation and a base. IT comes in a hand twist up tube and doesn’t leave my make up bag now cos it’s so handy for emergency coverage of spots. It comes in a range of shades to suit any skin tone, I chose pale biscuit.

I have to admit how impressed I was with the range of products. I love the sparkly eye shadows and nearly all products are under £6. I would say that you could have a completely new make up bag for under a tenner.

The packaging is quite basic on most Rimmel products apart from the cute make up to go range. They have bright neon packaging, handy for locating in the bottom of your handbag!

I was pleasantly surprised at how good these products actually are. All the products last all day and stay in place. Check out their curly mascara and the black eye liners for the best durability.

So impressed am I that I have a full make up bag of Rimmel products and its saving me a fortune every month! I still use my expensive stuff for special occasions but Rimmel products are much better for every day wear.

Rimmel is stocked in most chemists and supermarkets. Try Boots and Superdrug for the best offers.
