Rio Portable MP3 Player (32MB memory) - around an album & a half at 96KBPS (mp3 quality)

Portable MP3 players have always seemed a good idea to me, with most PC music applications offering features to allow the recording of CD's to mp3 format. Portable CD Players were a good idea but forced you to walk gently down the street in order to avoid the skipping!
MP3 players give CD quality without the hassle of large players & fragile discs.

The actual Mp3 player is credit card sized and around 1cm thick, it is packaged along with software (MusicMatch Jukebox SE) to organise your mp3 files and record CD's. Also included are a parallel port connector & cable to link up your mp3 player to any PC (even works at libraries!).

The software is a dream to install (as an IT professional, software installation is usually a good judge of the quality of the software!) very easy & straightforward. A complete novice could install & use the software & hardware with only the occasional glance at the detailed instructions.

The battery life of Rio (takes 1 aa battery) is quite impressive - 1 battery outlives 2 or 4 in my Walkman & CD player respectively.

I have been won over to mp3 by this product, as I was initially sceptical - but providing you have the CD's you want - this is a very easy way to listen to music on the move. Getting mp3's on the web can be quite expensive and is more difficult than you would think though. Links to 2 particular companies come with Rio though - so at least you are pointed in the right direction!

Oh, also the memory can be upgraded (by buying memory - look similar to a sim card) which you can slot into the space provided - no need to open / expensive repair.

No need to look at more expensive models of mp3 player - this will meet your every need
Great!

Good opinion. I would like to ask... Are there any known bugs/glitches?
