I'm always on the look out for the perfect facecream which will magically transform my skin and get rid of all its bad bits (bags, rapidly growing crows feet etc) and so on my quest I came across ROC Retin-Ox Correction which seemed to promise everything except a cup of tea. The main incentive for buying this particular cream was the extensive ad campaign which ROC lauched for the promotion of this product. The woman in the advert said something about 'I'm 43-surprised?' Thinking back now though, she actually did look her age more or less so what convinced me this would work I really don't know.
ROC has one of those 'almost premium yet not quite' reputation which means that the products are not as pricey as Lancome or Chanel items for example, can be bought in Boots and other chemists, but make similar great-sounding claims. It is fair to say, upon starting the tube, I had high hopes.
This product seems to come with a lot of negative feedback but I have to say its not as bad, or at least I didn't find it so.
A bit about the cream itself ******************************
It is an expensive product, (about £24) and the tube is 30ml so for that kind of money this cream can easily be placed within the top-end of the high street brands. The tube itself is made out of a foil-like material which is said to help retain freshness and potency of the cream. It gets a bit annoying sometimes though because if you twist the tube too much, it sometimes rips and so cream starts spurting out of other parts of the tube and not the top alone!
It smells ok, but I must say, is nothing out of the ordinary. The cream itself is white. (Your senses, you've probably guessed, are not particularly engaged with any aspect of the product thus far.) It is also date stamped to show its production date and guarantee its freshness.A little goes a long way with this cream for those of who who are particularly interested in the longevity of this product and the cream easily absorbs into the skin without the need for much rubbing. It never made my skin feel greasy but I sometimes felt I needed extra moisturisation even though I would usually classify my skin as particularly dry. This rendered it a good makeup base keeping foundation in place well; more greasier textures seem to make foundation etc simply slide off the skin...
So onto the actual use of the cream ************************************** The first couple of days were fine-the pores on my cheeks seemed less noticeable and my skin generally felt better. The claims say up to '10 years younger' so I was expecting to look 10 years old after a month of continuous use. (There is also an accompanying eye and night cream so I'm not sure if these claims are based on combined use?)
After using this product everyday however, I did start to notice my skin getting sensitive after about 3 weeks. Although its probably a great exaggeration, but it actually felt as though it was getting thinner-though how much is based in fact and how much in my overactive imagination is questionable!! One thing I know for certain is that my skin definately reacted to sun negatively- it would tingle somewhat after exposure.
This worried me somewhat and as a result I started using it every other day which seemed to sort the problem out. (I'm not sure if the benefits would still be the same though?)
Cream for me, cream for you? ******************************** It is hypoallergenic, fragrance-free and non-comedogenic however, from my experience with this cream, this does not necessarily mean it is suitable for everyone. However ROC maintain that their 'scientists have built on their extensive understanding of skincare to produce technologically advanced products which are highly effective, yet suitable for sensitive skin. RoC® products work to visibly improve skin. This is our promise to you.' This would seem to say that this product should be suitable for everyone yet I would be wary of giving this to someone with sensitive skin. However, if you are not satisfied maybe you can have a go at getting your money back!
Result at the final squeeze... ******************************** As I squeezed the last remnants of the tube on my face I did see some change-my eyes definately looked less wrinkly-the crows feet less pronounced but I was scared by the fact that this cream seemed to harsh for my skin-too strong a dose of the AHAs in this product is whats causing all the problems I think. Also you would need to use a sunblock if going out in the sun with this on because the cream can make you more susceptible to sunburn.
Although I did see some positive effects I do not think I would buy this product again-if my skin was reacting like this after 3 weeks how would it be after 3 years!!! Also this product is not suitable for the eye area-you'd need to fork out another £20 for the eye cream! Why can some brands make a eye and face cream in one whilst others can't??
One for more mature skins I think and as I said before, sensitive skins beware!! The debate continues..
Advantages: few- no allergic reaction Disadvantages: disappointing- mean size tubes, expensive
...then I am disappointed indeed. Roc retinox correction is too expensive to waste. The face cream product left the skin feeling dry- smelled of roses- and did leave the face soft to the touch, but again 40mls is too little cream for the expensive price, and did not last long enough to complete the trial that would have achieved the 10 year younger face I desired. Sorry Roc I shall not buy another tube to complete the time because it is too expensive ... ...theatre.
I feel that Roc is disappointing for its high price. The best of the products seems to be the night cream, but the mean size of tube is a clue to what you are buying. Great packaging- nice plastic tube that does not crack and split, but hard to get the remainder out when it starts running out. Not the miracle it promises to be- sadly. ...

Still a RoC Fan Review ofRoC Retin-Ox Multi-Correxion Eyesby
mistymoosy
Advantages: It really works Disadvantages: Not within everyones price range
The important thing about RoC Retin-Ox Correctiom (in fact, all RoC products) is perseverence. No one should reasonably expect instant results, but we do unfortunately live in a society where instant gratification is not soon enough.
I have been using this particular RoC product, along with the rest of the face care range, for over 5 years and I will never consider using another product.
It took about 3 months before I began to notice some improvements ... ...(she is unable to buy Roc in Oz so I post it to her).
I find that the cream is easily absorbed and very economical, I can expect a 15ml tube to last 3 months. Don't feel disappointed when you open the packaging up and come across this little tube, it is more than enough to keep you going for a few months. Although the initial purchase is quite expensive, it averages out to cost about the same as other high street products. A little tip is to buy ...

Advantages: None Disadvantages: Stings, causes redness and puffiness, expensive
I bought a tube of RoC Retin-ox Multi-Correxion Creme for the eyes last week in Sainsbury's. At £19.95 it was expensive, but at 35 I thought what price to try and preserve your 'youth' as long as possible! I was taken in by the recent run of adverts which promised that users will 'look 10 years younger' and that RoC 'keep their promises'. I was disappointed. I had applied the cream for the first time as directed, dabbing gently around the eye countours, ... ...puffy. They quite often sting, especially in this current hot bright weather. My skin has never been particularly sensitive before but I can only imagine that the ingredients are too strong for such a delicate area.
I will now be contact RoC (01628 822222) and asking for a refund. ...

Advantages: none Disadvantages: de-hydrates, burns skin and smells foul
...wonder skin care range from RoC that promises to make you look ten years younger and wrinkle free I decided to investigate further - there's always one isn't there? Boots had a great deal on - buy two get one free on a whole range of products including the Retin-OX Correxion products which made me think I was getting something of a bargain hence I ended up with three tubes of the cream, night, day and an extra day one for luck. My first reaction ... ...the effects. I rang Roc (01628 822222 -UK) and spoke to Customer Services who I must admit were very helpful and apologetic. They are sending me a self-paid jiffy bag and will refund me in full. I just hope my face returns to normal soon. I am currenting using E45 cream and it does seem to be having a very soothing effect. ...

I bought this cream after reading about it in a magazine and I don't know how they could have given it such a good review. In fact, I don't know how they can even sell it! After using it for a few days my skin became dry and red and very sensitive (which it has never been before) I carried on for a few days to see if my skin settled down but it got so bad and hurt so much my partner binned it!
