I just thought I would bring this device to your attention.
RoadPilot comes from the company which pioneered GPS accident blackspot detection.
For £399.95 you get a small, descreet device (not much bigger than a box of matches) which you can mount on your dashboard. I understand they also produce a larger touch screen version for £100 more.
I have to say having used it now for 6 months I am convinced it has made me a less eratic driver. It makes you very aware of the speed you are doing and once you get into the proximity of a speed camera (the proximity is user defined and adjustable) it warns you of the distance the device is from you together with what speed you are doing and very importantly what the local speed limit is in that area.
Of course people are going to say don't speed in the first place but we all drift over the limit at times and I found that rather than have to worry about this and then be distracted from driving by looking around for cameras I no longer have to worry about where they are and can concentrate on the most important thing, driving and navigating my car!
The laser is a simple devise which plugs into the Micro and detects handheld and mobile laser devices. It can be fitted to your windscreen or even by your licence plate. The wires can easily been hidden out of the way in most cars.
The thing I like about this companies laser device it that it is detachable, the law is currently being reviewed regarding radar and laser detection (but not GPS detection devices) and if it does change in the future all I will need to do is unplug the device. You cannot do this with all GPS speed trap detection devices.
All in all would I recommend it. Yes is you do travel alot or have every fallen prey to a speed trap device then this little gadget quietly sits in the corner and gives you peace of mind.
