Road Pilot Micro Go Covers all UK Speed Cameras When I saw this unit I thought it was a ... more
pretty good idea but I wasn t really sure what the benefit of it over a standard sat nav system were as most of the features are covered by up to the minute systems but using it I worked it out. The most obvious thing about his unit is it s size it s tiny It fitted easily to my dashboard with the included suction cup fitting so itrequired no drilling or sticking and was powered by a plug in power lead so I didn t have to worry about fitting batteries. Using the latest GPS technology the Road Pilot Micro Go comes pre loaded with RoadPilot s database of speed camera locations and accident blackspots throughout the uk and a growing number of European countries. The unit indicated my speed on the approach to speed cameras and the distance I was away from them I don t speed much myself but I found it reassuring not having to worry Summary A tiny driving companion with lots of useful features. Perhaps it does lack the navigation element that most GPS devises have but it s still a very usable device which has been well designed. The changeable backlight so that you can match your dashboard display for instance is a very nice touch as is the "Rescue me" setting which give you your exact location in case of emergencies. Key Features Speed Display Calculated using GPS in mph or kph Camera Warning shows your speed the local speed limit and distance to camera Rescue Me gives your exact geographic location Trip Computer shows the odometer and also a resetable Trip Computer Compass Heading Shows your current heading and also your speed Congestion Charge Gives an advanced warning when approaching on the boundary and while in a Congestion Charge Zone Max Sp

Advantages: Good unit and price. Disadvantages: Not compatible with Windows Vista x64
I recently purchased a RoadPilotmicroGo, the second one I have bought. As a unit, they are excellent, however software compatibility may make you want to avoid due to the fact that the sync software to update the unit is not compatible with Windows Vista 64 bit and RoadPilot have no current intention of changing the software to support it.
I had this email from their customer service manager which I am sure you can verify with them:
Dear Mr xxxxxxxxx
Thank you for your e-mail.
Having now looked into your problem further, unfortunately, I have to advise that the RoadPilot Sync Software is not compatible with vista 64 bit only vista 32 bit. I have spoken with our Technical Director and he advises that at present there are no immediate plans to change the software to incorporate compatibility with 64 bit. I am sorry you are ...
Advantages: Detachable Laser and external gps antennae Disadvantages: Lots of wires
I just thought I would bring this device to your attention.
RoadPilot comes from the company which pioneered GPS accident blackspot detection.
For £399.95 you get a small, descreet device (not much bigger than a box of matches) which you can mount on your dashboard. I understand they also produce a larger touch screen version for £100 more.
I have to say having used it now for 6 months I am convinced it has made me a less eratic driver. It makes you very aware of the speed you are doing and once you get into the proximity of a speedcamera (the proximity is user defined and adjustable) it warns you of the distance the device is from you together with what speed you are doing and very importantly what the local speed limit is in that area.
Of course people are going to say don't speed in the first place but we all drift over ...
Advantages: A pen that you can erase Disadvantages: None
The Pen
The Pen is brightly coloured and the same colour as the ink and has a silver tattoo design, with remove by friction written on it. On the end of the pen a silver rubber bit, which is what removes the ink by friction-generated heat. The lid matches the pen and has pilot and frixon ball written in silver. The pen comes in a variety of colours, eight in all.
My Opinion
I love doing puzzles and I am always on the lookout for a pen that would help me that. I saw this pen in WH Smiths one day and thought that?s a good idea but I wonder if it works. So I went to the till pen in hand and purchased it, once I got it home I opened the packet and gave it a little test. So I got a scrap of paper and did a little scribble, I then turned the pain over and as instructed I rubbed the silver end over the pen and was amazed at what I ...
Gives voice alerts rather than bleeping, shuts up if you are driving below the speed limit, tells you the reported speed of the road, records and monitors your speed limit, you can record your own high risk zones
Database is not up to date, laser detect is questionable (*)
