As many readers will be aware, I live in France and moving from one country to another seemed daunting to me, although of course I was keen, I was not expert at these things.
This is where Robinsons came in. I had the contents of my house in England to move, and moving from one country to another is not just a case of packing up and going. There is a lot of preparation to do beforehand that I had not thought of, and I am glad I chose Robinsons as they thought of all these things for me.
What is clever about the Robinsons package is that it includes a study that is done into your move beforehand, looking at how much stuff you have to move, your timetable, vehicle accessibility at the house you have chosen, and they seem to cover all the things that people tend to forget in their hectic changing of lifestyle.
What I particularly like about Robinsons is the one to one contact from day one. You feel like someone is looking after your interests and that matters a great deal. Robinsons provide you with a checklist of things that need to be done before the move :
Checking Passports and Visas. Checking travel documents etc. Dealing with letting people know you are moving, i.e. Doctor etc. Right down to the last bills at your British home, Robinsons have covered everything on their pre-moving lists, and do the thinking for you.
Towards the move date, they ask you to keep all items that will travel with you separately. They ask that electrical items be disconnected, cleaned and dried ready for shipment and have professional packers that do the work for you.
All that is left for you to do is to check each room and ensure that everything has indeed been packed. I was concerned about my piano, although I need not have been. They are accustomed to customers like me, and the piano was moved with the minimum of fuss, professionally and carefully.
A full inventory is produced and insurance papers signed and then all of my items were put into individual large containers at their depot, waiting for the moving date. Their storage is safe and what I liked is that their insurance covers both sea, air or whatever kind of transport is needed to transport my worldly goods to France.
Robinsons have been moving people for years. They are experts in relocation and have a corporate plan for business people that are moving, as well as individuals like me. I felt I was in safe hands.
From the moment that my furniture and possessions left my house in Plymouth, I felt confident with Robinsons. They are professional in their approach and know the different laws of different countries and deal with all that side of things for you.
Their packers are extremely careful and handled my possessions with care. I am fussy but I need not have been with this firm, as their wrapping and packing was superb.
I had first checked out price with other removal companies, and this company were not the cheapest but came in £950 cheaper than their competitor !!! That is an amazing result and I was extremely pleased.
If I ever move back to the U.K., I will have no hesitation in using this firm. Their unpacking was as good as their packing and my piano survived being handled across a large garden and up steps with no difficulty whatsoever, and their professionalism shined out ! The removal men were helpful and friendly, and their training must be good, as they certainly knew what they were doing.

You were fortunate to have found such a good and professional company. I only moved
about 8 miles across town , seven years ago, and remember how I thought that was a chore. Very informative and well written review....Moondog2
