As my children got older I started experimenting with different squashes - not just orange. Robinsons Apple and Blackcurrant has become a real favourite. I must confess to trying cheaper supermarket brands but they just don't make the grade, no taste and very weak.

The taste of Robinsons Apple and Blackcurrant is excellent. It really does taste of apple and blackcurrant, more blackcurrant than apple I think.. Also you don't need to use half the bottle to get a good taste. Only a little in the bottom of a tumbler gives a refreshing drink, although it can be a bit yuk if you make it too weak. It has a good pleasant smell - of apple and blackcurrants. It does not have a sickly smell which some drinks do.

I buy the special R variety as it has no added sugar, a bonus in this day and age of incresed sugar input. It is low in calories and does actually contain some Apple juice (9%) and some blackcurrant jiuce (2%). The only down side really is that it contains artificial sweetners - I suppose the lack of sugar has to be replaced with something. I don't know which is more harmful though - sugar or sweetners. It also contains vitamins A & D for those people conscious of that sort of thing. Another good point is that it does not contain any artificial colours - therefore no hyperactivity inducing E numbers. It is also suitable for vegitarians, not that we are in our house though.

The juice comes in various size bottles 1L, 2L 3L and sometimes 4L. The larger bottles are a good idea because we drink so much as a family. However, they are difficult to find space for, expecially the 4L ones and my children find them too heavy to use themselves (they are getting to that independent age), so I either buy the 1L ones for around £0.92 or decant a larger one into an old 1L bottle and put the rest in the garage. The lables are attractive and the R variety easy to spot and the 1L bottle is a good shape to hold.

A firm family favourite which is always in the cupboard. Good value for money and great taste.
