Rock

The Rock is perhaps the most popular wrestler of the modern era, he exemplifies everything sports entertainment is all about, the personality, the brash, arrogant way of thinking, and also his 'good looks' have turned a few of the young ladies heads.

Those that have taken any interest in my wrestling ops, will know I'm not really a fan of the entertainment side of the industry, I watch wrestling to see just that, WRESTLING, but recently entertainment has taken over, and the sport aspect has taken a huge backseat.

I either like, or hate a wrestler. Chris Benoit, I like, The Undertaker, I hate. The Rock, I'm not sure about. He can sometimes have me laughing, and sometimes fuming.

Pure wrestling ability is irrelevant to any wrestlers attributes now, but a gimmick, personality, whatever you want to call it, will make anyone a big time player. This is perhaps the reason The Rock has gotten this far. This, his popularity and his ability to sell merchandise more than anyone else ever could.

Why is The Rock so popular? It's not because of his wrestling ability, that's for sure, maybe the fact that he has more catchphrases in his arsenal, than he does wrestling moves? Maybe the way he does his 'Peoples eyebrow' Maybe the humour he uses to disrespect his opponents? Probably all of them.

He's had a fair few good matches, but none excellent, he can a story like not many others, but is very inconsistent, he'll put on a lackluster suckfest with The Undertaker one week, and a clinic with Chris Benoit the next.

Sometimes I even find myself laughing at the man, I don't want to, but he's pretty funny, and not just 'wrestling funny' either.

Okay, I'm supposed to be going against the man, not going too well, hmmmm. Ah, yes. He's keeping much wasted talent down, some of my favourite wrestlers like Tommy Dreamer, and Raven are being severely misused due to The Rock having so much TV time, most of this time he spends cutting promos, and getting himself over. Greedy git, he gets the most money out of the industry, possibly the most ever, can't he let someone else have some of the spotlight?

He's also inconsistent in staying in the Wrestling world, one minute he's battling Triple H on Smackdown, the next minute he’s starring in yet another movie.

I think that's pretty much the ups and downs of The Rock, I'll give a bit of a career rundown just to give more information for you all. Just a bit remember...

He has been involved in the World Of Wrestling nearly all of his life, as pretty much all of his relatives have been in some way associated with it. His father was the legendary, 'Rocky Johnson' and that's where the name 'Rock' comes from.

His main feud to date has been with Triple H, though his feud with Mick Foley provided some damn entertaining matches.

He first feuded with Triple H, in 1996 and has been on and off since then. The feud peaked in 2000, with Triple H aligning with The McMahon's The Rock was left to battle them by himself. They exchanged the WWF title 4 or 5 times.

From late 2000 to early 2001 he was in a heated rivalry with Stone Cold Steve Austin, who had been out with an injury for a year before. This culminated in what the critiques consider to be the Rocks' best match yet, at Wrestlemania 18, where the man battled for well over half an hour, and Steve Austin eventually beat The Rock, with help from Vince McMahon. It took a while to beat The Rock, as he has great 'fighting spirit'

I spoke more of his later days, as they have been the most eventful, his early career was pretty dull, though in 1999 he teamed up with 'The Corporation' and 'The Ministry' to take control of the WWF.

In Conclusion, I really don't know If I like him or not, sometimes I do, sometimes I don't, watch him yourself, maybe you will. First impressions are that he is the god of Wrestling, but you soon get bored with his style.
