Rocket e-book is an electronic book reader used to read electronic books. Electronic books are books but are not written on paper. You have to read the books on your computer screen or on an electronic reader such as the Rocket e-book reader. You can get loads of information on the electronic reader at http://www.Rocket-eBook.com. I bought one online using a secure line with my credit card (Rocket eBook Pro) at Powells.com about two months ago. Now I am in reading heaven. I can download the electronic books from various online publishers right into my little reader. I found the e-reader extremely easy on the eyes, easy to use and it is even shaped like a paperback novel. The instructions are quite simple to follow and most of the electronic books I've downloaded and read on the rocket book have been excellent. Currently the Rocket e-Book reader is expensive (for me at least) at about $269.00 U.S. (in July of 2000) plus shipping fees for the newer version but there is an older version at $199.00 U.S. But I'm sure once the reader catches on with the general public the price will go down. Advantages to Rocket-eBook reader: 1. Have access to books that are not available in paperback. Most of these e-books are a heck of a lot cheaper than paperbacks and seem to be more interesting than the traditional paperback. (my opinion) 2. You can download and save many electronic books (HTML formats and others) to the reader. The e-books are all stored in the "Bookshelf". 3. The e-reader runs both on batteries and electricity. A battery charger comes with the unit. 4. Extremely easy on the eyes, especially compared to a computer screen. 5. Light and fits in your palm. It is about the size of a paperback novel. 6. At night you can read without the lights on because it can also give you a lit screen. 7. You can change the size of printing on the screen. If you a problem seeing small print you can make it large. 8. You can even delete a book if you don't like it. Those are only some advantages and there certainly are more. Disadvantages to Rocket-eBook reader. 1. Price is a bit steep. That's the only problem for me. If you do decide to get a Rocket e-book reader here is a list of some electronic book publishers you may want to visit to download electronic books for your e-reader or even into your computer. http://www.ebooksonthe.net http://www.hardshell.com http://www.wordbeams.com http://www.avidpress.com http://www.lionhearted.com http://www.ltdbooks.com (Canadian electronic publisher) http://www.starpublications.com http://www.fictionworks.com If you'd like to visit my website for more electronic publishers go to: http://www.crosswinds.net/~thewritinghermit/electronicbooks.htm Hope this article helps in your search for an electronic book reader and I hope you enjoy the Rocket e-book as much as I am.
