Rockford Files

Advantages: good stories, good memories
Disadvantages: may be dated for some

Rockford (James Garner) is a private investigator who lives and works from his beach trailer in LA. A likeable ex-con Rockford often skirts on the edges of the law to ensure that he gets his $200 a day (plus expenses) to solve all kinds of mysteries/crimes from fraud and kidnappings to suspicious deaths and robberies, he has a quarter page advertisement in the paper and the show often starts with an answer machine message that usually has nothing to do with the show that is about to start, and he drives a gold Pontiac Firebird. I think as with all shows of the genre (even with modern shows, but more so back then) that the attraction is the "how" and by that I mean how the cop/detective gets his man, Columbo used to be great at this, with Peter Falk coming across as a scruffy, almost slow witted kind of guy, but we all know that the "let me ...

Review of The Rockford Files - Series 2 (Box Set) (DVD)

Good MP3/CD player, smart appearance

Advantages: Good CD/MP3 sound quality; looks smart
Disadvantages: Slightly "cheap" quality; clips 1st second of MP3s; relatively expensive

annoying. Ease of use The control panel is generally intuitive and easy to use, following general conventional interface design. Unlike many in-car players, there are ten numbered preset buttons, although the presets 7-0 are accessed via a "shift"-style button, these buttons having other purposes otherwise. In addition, most of the buttons have a different action depending on whether you briefly press them, or hold the button down. Recommendation? I would have recommended this to potential buyers at the time I bought it, but this model is no longer available new. Also, there are now units that support other formats, such as WMA, and DVDs for additional storage. I would still recommend Rockford Fosgate as a brand to consider. Their products are generally a bit more expensive, but overall I am pleased ...

Review of Rockford Fosgate RFX9000

RF9000

Advantages: Simple interface, excellent internal amp(SQ), quick loading Mp3 system
Disadvantages: no subwoofer crossover, no EQ functions

I had bought this item from ebay for £90, and when i first got it, I was delighted to see the appearance of the unit, an elegant silver finish that didn't look tacky like some of these other tacky headunits. Installation was a walk in the park (ISO Block), and when i heard this unit with my factory speakers i was astonished, it gave a level of clarity i never knew my speakers were capable of. A nice interface, would definitely recommend this unit to anyone who wants a decent system without forking out a small fortune. The MP3 feature is also flawless, with no skipping whatsoever, but don't be fooled by the current prices for this head unit, it was over 400 pounds when it was released. ROCKFORD FOSGATE, need i say more!!! ...
