No this is not about the NickLeeson movie starring Ewna McGregor and Anna Friel, nor is it concerning the group who gave us ?Voodoo child?, it is about a simple BBC program which brings helpful information to the general public.
Although the title may sound as though this show follows some dodgy traders around whilst they go about their business of ripping people off, maybe glorifying them in some way, well let me inform you that is not? in fact it is the complete opposite.

RogueTrader is a film-documentary depicting the rise and fall of a Mr NickLeeson (played by the excellent Ewan McGregor), an investor for Barings Bank. For those who were living on the Moon in 1995, Barings Bank (of which the Queen was a customer) collapsed that year after Leeson abused his position of trust and gambled customer's money on the stock market. Leeson had it all, good job, money and was happily married but he wanted more but what transpired was not what Leeson expected....
I decided to buy this film due to the fact I take an interest in the stock market. Of course, during the film many technical terms are used and at times I did have problems understanding what was going on but that did not detract from my enjoyment of the film as I got the gist of what was happening. Everyone's heard of NickLeeson...well this is his story.
Imagine the scene....It's 1995, NickLeeson is working in the back office for Barings, and eventually gets sent to Singapore to manage the trading floor.
There he looses a big customer for Barings, and due to the loss he gains, he gambles on the market going up.
Yes...you guessed it...it went down and down until the loss couldn't be covered up any more.
Ewan McGregor stars with Anna Friel.
For anyone interested in finance/stocks/shares this is a brilliant film to watch.
For people that have little or no understanding of markets, this will be a film that will be difficult to get into to.
To fully enjoy the film and to understand how he looses all the money you must understand what goes on.
