Having been a user of these monitors for about two years now, I would say that they are excellent value for money, and provide an ideal entry into the world of active studio monitoring.
Given the low cost, the bass is suprisingly full, and the midrange and treble are both crisp and responsive. The bass does roll off higher than many more expensive monitors, (sub 100Hz is almost non-existent) so this may not be ideal if you are using a lot of sub-bass in your mixes. When listening back to a mix done on these speakers on a pro studio setup, I find that the mid and treble usually sound excellent but the bass lacks that certain punch and clarity.
The cabinet is a solid, well-constructed wooden design, easily able to endure knocks and bumps sustained during house moves and other studio rearranging. This is a major plus.
The inputs are reliable and good quality , and the eq/volume controls and headphone jack on the front are definitely a useful addition. The amps are powerful enough to get a good loud sound without distortion.
To conclude, I would say that If you are looking for a fully pro-quality, full-range monitoring solution that goes way down into the sub bass, I would suggest looking at more expensive alternatives. If, like me, you need a low-cost speaker with a decent flat sound that can take a bit of abuse then this could be the monitor for you. These speakers would certainly provide a huge upgrade for a budding producer that is currently using hifi/computer speakers.
