My parents paid for it almost 500 GBP. After time, we needed another one because we found out that it is so practical.., at that time the price was already less. Nowadays (years after) I guess it is even less. Go to Amazon ... more
I have been playing the piano for several years, each week going to a class, hard training all the time, concerts, and once, I got for Christmas this new invention.
--- Advantages --- I didn't know at all what to expect. Before, I occasionally played for fun on keyboard. So I thought that it is comparable to such quality = not having a real size of a usual wooden piano. The other thing is that the number of keys, the low bass and high tones are usually missing on such a digital piano. But as I saw it then packed out, I starred on it with an open mouth because the keys had the usual size of a USUAL piano. What I really started to like on Roland EP-77 it was the fact that it is portable. - Several times it happened to me that I couldn't play the big piano at certain occasions because I cannot just put this instrument into my pocket and like this to take it with me from home. With Roland EP-77 it was solved. About recording your tunes it is no longer a dream even with some different sounds (strings, bells, organ), you can do that directly by cable - without the additional noises what is the case with an acoustic piano record. You can change to that if having just a simple piano. Extra cool: playing at night! You can modify the volume just as you want. This is impossible with an acoustic piano since however silent you might stroke the keys they still make a certain noise.
--- Disadvantages --- Electricity. It requires electricity to be used in comparison to the acoustic one - and this is a disadvantage. If the electricity goes away for whichever reason. This happened to us quite often in a small village where I used it. At such times no help, you cannot play.... The next disadvantage: if you like a piano because of its wooden outlook and the feeling of playing a big real instrument, then Roland EP-77 means for you just an artificial "tonemaker". And really, it doesn't have as big differentiating of the keystroke as the real piano.
--- How to get it --- My parents paid for it almost 500 GBP. After time, we needed another one because we found out that it is so practical.., at that time the price was already less. Nowadays (years after) I guess it is even less. Go to Amazon or Ebay and check out the actual price.
--- Conclusion --- It is a really good instrument for advanced players but not for beginners. Beginners might find it difficult to get acquainted with playing on Roland EP-77. For the advanced ones it shouldn't be a problem to acclimatize from harsher keystroke to lighter one and back.

Advantages: A compact substitue for a piano Disadvantages: Nothing really
I have interited a Roland EP-77 from my mother. I don't know mich about digital pianos, but it seems to do everying you would need of a machine that is intended as a substitute for the real thing. It sounds like a piano (to me), it sort of feels like a piano, but it is a lot smaller.
This is a neat and unassuming digital keyboard that would make a good substitute for a real piano if you lack the room. It is essentially free from most gimmicks and ... ...headphone sockets. Best of all, it doesn't look or feel like a toy that probable better describes many other keyboards.
I like the feel of the keys. I guess it is supposed to mimic a real piano. I wouldn't say that they have suceeded 100% but it is good enough. Recommended. ...
