Daddy Takes Responsibility
Review of Daddy - Danielle Steel by luckyarchers

Advantages: I felt like I understood the feelings of at least two of the main characters.
Disadvantages: A bit boring. Too much repetition in first half of book.

...tell you that the main Daddy did quite well when forced to take on all of the day-to-day parenting, but there are also two co-starring Daddies in the story as well. I would expect any man who waded through this to think more than once before deliberately becoming a Daddy himself. There seemed to be a lot of repetition of the way characters felt through the whole of the book, but especially the feelings of a mother who may not have had any children ...
...This repetition of emotions meant that I felt I knew the main characters quite well, but I prefer to get to know characters in a more interesting way. In contrast to this repetition, I think it odd that the weddings and honeymoons included involved very little detail. Another thing that the book lacked for me was any sort of sense of humour, expect for the last sentence, which made me smile. I don't expect to laugh much during bad times, but I think ... Dating Game
Review of Dating Game - Danielle Steel by chattell

Advantages: Easy To Read
Disadvantages: None

Going back a few years I was reading every Danielle Steel book as they were being released, and eventually got sick to death of reading them, and went on to read others. At Christmas this year one of my children bought me this bright pink book called "Dating Game", and I must admit left it quite a while before picking it up to have a read, and when I did I actually found that I could not put it down, and read it in three days which is quite unusual ...
...bought for me so not sure how much it was picked up for but it retails for £6.99 ***** Author ***** As you may or not be aware Danielle Steel has written a majority, too many titles but at least 60 so far, and quite a popular author. ***** Story ***** The story tells of a American family, Peter (dad) who has a very good job in a law firm, Paris (mum) who spends her time caring for her family, raising two children and loves to thro dinner ... Disappointing but good for discussion
Review of The Memory Keeper's Daughter - Kim Edwards by brokenangelkisses

Advantages: Beautiful language; interesting plot premise
Disadvantages: Plot neglected to allow characters thinking time

At the heart of this story is a worm of a secret that burrows so deep it tears a family apart. Layered over this core are the histories of several alternately sympathetic and irritating characters. After delivering his (unexpected) twins, Doctor David Henry is disturbed to realise that, although the boy is perfect, the girl is a 'classic' 'mongoloid'. Much of the interest in this section springs from the dispassionate way in which he handles this ...
...David has instructed to hand the child over to an institution to live out (what he imagines) will be a short and pain filled life. All this is achieved before Norah, David's wife, even awakens after the birth. When she does, David impulsively tells her that Phoebe died at birth. It is this secret that will rub away at their relationship over the ensuing years. Caroline Gill, a lonely nurse who harbours feelings for the doctor, cannot bear to hand ... Read review

She never fails!
Review of Out of the Blue - Belinda Jones by Kittyk8e

Advantages: Full of adventure, not too long a story
Disadvantages: None

I love Belinda Jones books and once again she has failed to disappoint me. I really enjoy how she manages to make you feel as tho you're there with the characters and also makes you feel as tho, in some ways, you're the leading lady being swooned by a lovely greek man. You can also tell that Belinda hadn't just written a story, you could see how much research she has put into writing this book as she mentions the myths of the greek gods and how different ...
...book down until i had read the whole thing hich proved to be difficult as i was at work when i read it. After i had finished reading the book it made me want to hop on a plane and go and visit this wonderful greek island. The way that she describes everything is so colourful and she doesn't over describe things and lets your imagination run wild. I found it to be slightly predictive but some of the events which happened came a total surpise to me. ... Read review

Simple but utterly, divinely romantic
Review of The Notebook - Nicholas Sparks by elliepotten

Advantages: Romantic, escapist fiction, made me cry like a baby!
Disadvantages: A bit simple and clunky, in typical Sparks style

...him. He tells her the story of Noah and Allie, a young couple who fall in love and spend one beautiful summer together before Allie's family leave town again. Fourteen years later, Allie is engaged, but is drawn back to Noah in an attempt to find out whether this was true love or whether he has forgotten her. Although he is older and wiser, he is everything she remembered and they fall in love all over again. But will she choose her new life with ...
...with her soulmate, the gentle and hard-working country boy? The book only took a day to read, but more than once I found myself waking up from the novel's thrall with tears rolling down my cheeks. Though the language is simple, even clumsy, it does allow the emotion and the love between the characters to shine out with a radiance that transcends the words on the page, making it more moving and electrifying than ever. It reminds the reader of the ... Read review
