The Crimson Petal and the White is a visceral,all-consuming read.
Advantages: Excellent prose, unique characters, interesting storyline Disadvantages: very long, small text, some unsettling events are portrayed in grisly detail.
The Crimson Petal and the White is a long book. Over 800 pages, but every chapter conjures up magnificent pictures of Victorian London. The narration starts with an unseen omniscient voice but quickly darts in and out of all of the many characters' heads. ...
