Enduring Love.
Advantages: Haunting, llyrical a love story for any age or gender. Disadvantages: None.
It may surprise my usual readers to find I do enjoy a good romance or tearjerker every now and again. However, I am no fan of the Mills & Boon types of stories, my tastes are for the gentle romances rather than the bodice-ripping or gushing stories. I came across an American author, Nicolas Sparks, whose books I can recommend to both women and men. A highly acclaimed author who frequently gets into the New York Times Bestseller list, his novels have ... ...films. The Plot

A good weekend book
Advantages: A good length Disadvantages: Hard to put down
This would have to be my favourite of the stand alone Nora Roberts books. I thoroughly enjoyed her description of the Alaskan landscape. Her main female character in this book is a wonderfully independent and feisty lady. The main male character is new to this environment, and seeking to forget out a bad experience.
There is a good element of mystery interwoven into the background, and intriguingly written through a series of flashbacks. The suspense ... ...left guessing as to who did it.
I really enjoyed the layers of detail that were added to this book - you begin to feel what it is like to live through an Alaskan winter. I have already reread this book several times as I enjoyed it so much! ...

Liz Carlyle has done it again
Advantages: Great plot Disadvantages: The Heroine's brother is more intresting than her knight
Great Historical romance does not come better than this.
I love Liz Carlyle mainly because she makes her characters so believable. The heroine of the book is no shrinking violet, she is a woman with her own mind and therefore there is no surprise that her hero is a man of strong personality to match her own.
Carlyle has created an environment in which a romance of equals is acceptable. The trend these days is for the heroine to be meek and weak ... ...give it all up when she meets her knight. No such thing here which is a breath of fresh air. The story line is great and the intrigue will keep you glued to the pages.
If you are a lover of historical romance you will love this book and because it is part of a series the lives of the character just don't end there, you get to see them move on in the next book.
If you have the chance please do read the whole series it is worth it. ...

Love Story
Advantages: Well written and thought out love story Disadvantages: Bit short needed an extra twist or two
...broaden my horizons. Although the thought filled me with dread, as I have never knowingly picked up a romantic book, I decided she had a fair point and it was time to try something different and challenging. So please bear with me on this review as it might go horribly wrong!!
Synopsis of the book:
Elvi is a twenty-year-old girl who is organising her wedding to her boyfriend Alan. Despite him being considerable older than her, he is a very ... ...her time away and at the local dance she meets and instantly falls in love with Callum a journalist. This really emphasises to her that although she feels affection towards Alan she does not desire or have the intensity she does for Callum. Now she must face this and make important decisions that will affect them all.
My thoughts on this book:
Overall I did find this an enjoyable read. Which in itself is quite amazing as this was a romantic ...

'Heart and Soul' a warm hearted novel.
Advantages: A very engaging novel with strong characters Disadvantages: None in my view
Review of Heart and Soul, a novel by Maeve Binchy I am reviewing the paperback version of the book, 544 pages, Published by Orion, ISBN 978-0752884646, cover price £7.99. About the Book Maeve Binchy is a popular author of romantic novels, generally set in Ireland. I have read several of her novels and I find that there is something rather comforting and familiar about picking up a Binchy novel. It is almost like meeting up with an old friend ... ...very well drawn and although Heart And Soul can be read as a stand alone novel, I recognised several characters from other books and it was rather pleasant to feel that you now knew what had happened to so and so in the end! The Plot As stated above, Heart and Soul does feature characters from previous Maeve Binchy novels, however, the story line of this book is not in anyway, dependant on having read a previous book. The novel is set in a Dublin ...
