Gripping and Emotional
Advantages: Wonderfully written, gripping and full of emotion and love Disadvantages: Made me cry again!
After seeing the film of this book I really wanted to read this so I could see how well the film was adapted and if it missed anything out. I was very pleased when I received this as another birthday present as I though hubby had forgotten I was after it. I cannot believe though that I knew exactly what was coming at the end of the book but it still made me cry like a baby!
The book starts with us being introduced to an elderly gentleman who is ... ...We are then taken to the story which he is reading from his notebook and find out that Allie and Noah at teenagers who meets and spend the summer together and fall deeply in love with each other but soon Allie is moving away so the pair end up separating and despite Noah constantly writing to her he never gets a reply. Noah never forgets Allie as he goes about his life and soon he is fighting in the war and working hard to save enough money to buy ...

This kiss is deadly!
Advantages: Great front cover Disadvantages: chapters too long, predictable, not very cheerful
...took my eye because on the front cover was Gustav Klimt’s painting of ‘The Kiss’. Golden and brown hues showing the latest Danielle Steel book up there on the big board. I wasn’t going to pay the RRP of £6.99 and by pure fortune, while it was still in the book charts, I found it in hard back version in a charity shop for a mere English pound! Well at that price it was too rude not to buy it!
I must mention at this stage I used to read Ms Steel’s ... ...a cheapie. So the story. Well it features Isabelle, a beautiful (of course) French lady who lives in Paris with her husband Gordon and their two children Sophie and Teddy. Teddy is confined to a wheelchair after being born prematurely and having problems with his lungs and heart. Teddy is now 14 and Sophie is 18. Gordon is a workaholic, an unemotional man that has no time for his family, especially Isabelle. Then we have Bill, he’s ‘big in politics’, ...

The perfect holiday read and a wonderful escape
Advantages: Readable, compelling, Disadvantages: None because it's perfect within its genre
...And it still retains the immediacy and readability which made it deservedly a best-seller.
Since Rosamunde Pilcher, now in her eighties, achieved fame in 1987 after decades of wriitng romantic fiction, there have been many authors who have tried to cover similar ground in much the same way. Most of them are formula writers who I'd give a wide berth to as life is far too short to spend reading rubbish.
But Pilcher's story deserves a re-read on many ... ...as easy-to-read literature. The cosy world she evokes is not some imagined fantasy but is based on her own ( very middle-class) life and values - decency, honesty , human failure - which are timeless. But most of all it's worth a go because of the story, which is beautifully told and utterly compelling . The book revolves around Penelope Keeling an her three very diferent children, humdrum housewife Nancy, successful journalist Olivia, and selfish ...

A must read
Advantages: It has a beautiful moral. Disadvantages: none
...about this book is that the story takes you with it.The characters are so realistic that i could actually imagine all that happening. It made me cry when i read it for the first time. How can a woman (Sarah) go through so much in her life and yet be happy with the little that she has, and how Charles Waterson learns from her experiences. It certainly taught me that, life never stops. Wether you are alone or with someone, it all depends on how you ...

Lose yourself in Montana with The Horse Whisperer
Advantages: A wonderful read that you lose yourself in Disadvantages: It comes to and end
...lot! It tells the story of a 13 year old girl who, whilst out riding her beloved horse Pilgrim, is hit by a 40 ton truck. Grace and Pilgrim survive but sadly her friend dies along with her horse (I did say it was sad). Grace loses a leg at the knee and becomes extremely withdrawn. Pilgrim is treated for his injuries but is so traumatised by the whole accident that he won't let anyone near him and turns very aggressive. Grace's mother, Annie, is a ... ...off to Montana to the horse whisperer’s ranch, but Grace is not at all happy about the situation and makes no secret of it.. She makes it very difficult for her Mum and they become even more distant towards each other (in Grace’s eyes her Mum always puts business before her). My Opinion This is a very descriptive book and you easily loose yourself in it. It’s a wonderful story of the courage of a little girl and her horse. The author manages to ...
