Rome: Total War - Official Strategy Guide

Advantages: Amazing graphics, Great sequel to a great game
Disadvantages: None i can think of

...Rome Total War is one of the best strategy games ever. To play Rome Total War fills a loving space in all strategy fans hearts. The graphics are amazing with up to 1000s of troops on the battlefield at one time and Amazing special effects. It is also the best game for strategy warfare. Unlike C&C you have to use tactics, moving your archers to the top of a hill highly increases your accuracy and can even win you the war as well as hiding in trees and creating ambushes. This alone would make a great game but no they added another part as well, the strategy map. This fuction enhances gameplay so much. Moving troops to defend borders, take over regions, spy and so much more with an easy interface and extremely good AI. Should you buy this game then? In one word yes. It is definitley a classic but if your going to be this also buy it... Read review

Advantages: Great Graphics, Realistic game play.
Disadvantages: Diplomacy, and trouble with large battles.

...Rome Total War is one of the best PC strategy games around if not the best. Its Graphics are unmatched and if you have played Shogun Total War or Medieval you will see the jump in graphics, Sound and Performance jump greatly. It combines many realistic aspects of that era. The only troubles I have encountered with the game is the diplomacy aspects of the game. Some factions forget far to easily and sign alliances strait after a bitter war. This problem has been promised to be solved. Also the amount of patchs that greatly improve gameplay available on the web is amazing. The computers strategies differ and can change. When testing this game to its limits I found that if you exceed 7000 troops in a battle performance drops. This only affect you if you are trying to organise a large scale custom battle, and rarely happens in game play... Read review

Advantages: Amazing battles and indepth world map. Stunning graphics if your computer can do it
Disadvantages: Takes a lot of time, Computer armies can be weak and needs a good comp to play

...Rome Total War (RTW) dominates the rest when it comes down to controlling warfare. The huge armies and expansive world map let you control every detail of your empire, right down to whether a town or not should have paved roads or a highway. RTW puts you in charge of vast armies and for anybody who can afford to lose a weeks off their life, is an amazing gaming experience. Although the computer sometimes does field stupidly pathetic armies against you, when you're out numbered 3 to 1 by a Barbarian Horde, you know you're going to be in a good fight. This game brings a whole new approach to strategy games and I bought it instantly and have never regretted it. Although it does require a good computer to get the full benifits of the stunning graphics, the superb gameplay alone justifies buying this game. I heavily recommend this game... Read review
