Advantages Advantages Great Improvement over its Predecessors. Battles look fantastic.

Disadvantages Disadvantages A high-end computer needed to run it well.

The Total War series has represented an original and refreshing new direction for strategy games in general. The gist is quite basic, you command armies into battles, inbetween managing the cities, towns and settlements that make up your empire. Introduction In this, the third Total War game currently on the market, you take control of the Roman Empire as head of one of three different families. The northern, Gaul-bordered House of Julii. The southern-Sicily based Scipii, and the Brutii who are based in the east of Italy. In an intriguing addition you may also play as the Gallic empire ... more

Advantages Advantages Brilliant gameplay, huge battles, seriously addictive.

Disadvantages Disadvantages Seriously adictive, occasionally dodgy AI, has been superseded by Medieval II

The rain thunders all around, clattering off shields and armour, splattering across the boughs of the fir trees, dripping from the rims of helmets. Rows of grim faced Romans grip their pilae and gaze into the mist, where the voices of seven thousand baying barbarians roar their battle cries, hammering swords, axes and spears on battered shields. Welcome to Gaul. It is the year 263BC, and Captain Asinius of the House of Julii has just had his column of 800 men ambushed on the way to the frontier town of Alesia. His scouts report that he is outnumbered more than seven to one, with almost no hope ... more

Advantages Advantages requires a lot of strategic work and awesome graphics.

Disadvantages Disadvantages very repetetive, requires a lot of time.

In the third instalment of the total war series, you are expected to command one of three Roman families at the start which sounds pretty easy, you have three allies too when you start. The three playable Roman families are: The House of Julii The House of Brutii The House of Scipii No matter which one you choose, you will always have each other and of course, the senate and his army known as S.P.Q.R. If you play as the house of Julii you are on frontier of the Gaul faction and in northern Italy, Scipii is in the south and Brutii is in the eastern part of Italy. The Senate now and again gives ... more

Do you remember Shogun: Total War? What about Medieval: Total War? If you had the opportunity to play both this games then you will find Rome: Total War as a fantastic continuation of the same game play. Shogun was great, Medieval added a few things that made the game play interested and now Rome has improved vastly in graphics and in the technical department and made the playing experience a really enjoyable one. PLAYING THE GAME The game play is separated in two areas. One, in which you can expand your empire in the world map, use of the resources of your states so to have financial and ... more

    Advantages Advantages Excellent strategy game

Disadvantages Disadvantages Not for those without time on their hands.

This is the game who's engine was used recently on one of the bbc's programs, it featured historical battles being fought by teams of people, and the public wanted to try it themselves. Thus, Rome:Total War was born and many people, including me, were and are hooked onto it. As i hurried home with the game in my hand, and a few points on my game card, i couldnt wait to play it. The cellophane was ripped off, and the cd placed in the drive, i couldnt contain my excitement. The installation was relatively simple, no hiccups, just changing cd's every now and again. And then suddenly, the question ... more
