**THE CAMPUS**
Anyone who appreciates lots of trees, ducks, a big lack and plenty of green green grass then you would love it here. The gardens surrounding rose bruford are beautiful, which ... ...in the round. Again, making rose bruford a pleasant place to study. The only downfall is that they do not have onsite accommadation, although there are plenty of people there willing to help you on this matter. Sidcup is merely a minutes walk away, with plenty of bars and small restaurants for evening and daily entertainment, or you can jump on the train and travel anywhere you please.

**THE CAMPUS** Anyone who appreciates lots of trees, ducks, a big lack and plenty of green green grass then you would love it here. The gardens surrounding rose bruford are beautiful, which makes for a pleasant place to study for the profession. The original building still stands in all its glory, with the added bonus of a brand new complex just recently completed, including a newly refurbished theatre in the round.
**THE COURSE** I will be talking about the actor musician course (BA hons), although there are plenty of other options including acting, costume design, american studies etc. The actor musician course follows the same studies as the actor course, with the added bonus of incorporating musical talent into your training. They like you to have ability in two instrunments, with one preferably at grade five, the other can be voice. You don't necessarily get taught how to play your instrument better, rather than be shown and learn how to use your music to express yourself in your work. Thats all i can say really, as i have not yet studied this course!
**THE AUDITION!!!** Numerous audition days are held during the spring term, which are applied for through good old UCAS. On each day a group of people are called in to audition and partake in a workshop. I had 20 people auditioning with me. You are required to prepare a monologue(no longer than 1 and half minutes) and a shakespeare monologue, which you choose from the provided list. My Experience..... Everyone was called into the theatre and was given a grief chat by the director of the course to explain the days events. Then the dreaded event started. Everyone auditions in alphabetical order, in front of all the auditionees and two directors. You have to get up, introduce you pieces and away you go (in your chosen order). The 1&1/2 minute rule is very strict. As soon as your time is up somebody will shout TIME and you have to stop immeadiately. Luckily for me i stayed within my boundary. It was quite daunting to go through, but i personally feel it helps having other people watching, as they provide a good supportive audience for you performance.
After the auditions a short break was had, followed by a music workshop. instruments were not required for this session, as it was just a preliminary. We were split into small groups so the director could see how we work as an ensemble, judging our ability to keep in rhythm. This was an enjopyable workshop, but i wont give too much away! This of course is part of your audition, so you need to impress in this stage too, as it may save your bacon!
We were then free to leave. The callbacks are sent through the UCAS system, which takes about 1-2 weeks. So fingers crossed. If i receive good news i will update the opinion to include the second round and interview stage....
AND NOW FOR THE UPDATE Rose bruford college told me my reply would take 7-10 days. after 23 days of waiting it turned up on the doorstep. unfortunately it is a no this time, as they do not like to take people younger than about 20/21. this to me seemed ridiculous auditioning people so young in the first place if they are never going to offer you a place. waiting so long for a response was pretty awful on both parts, they have a responsiblity to let people know asap. im not bitter though, i have another audition soon for E15 and very much looking forward to it.

Advantages: Some of the top directors and tutors in the industry work there. Disadvantages: The main theatre is in the round.
...year. Why Choose Rose Bruford: Because it isn't 'stuck up'. I got into two other schools and I chose to study here because the staff and pupils are so down to earth. They dont have time for prima donas and 'stars'! They also accept people of all ages. Many colleges wont take young people, but I am 18 an am in my first year and can definitley say that they dont mind young people if you're good enough. There are 5 people in our year at the moment who ... ...stared called Ian Reekie, he's fab.
He was the head of Acting at RSAMD, but left to join Rose Bruford and is bringing in lots of very good change.
But be warned, it's bloody hard work! It is physically and menatlly extremley demanding and challenging.
Have fun auditioning. ...

Advantages: Lovely site Disadvantages: Auditions and the building works
...land with some wonderful wildlife Rose Bruford is based around an old country home. This year arriving you may wonder where the beauty is for the main ste is going to become th only home of Bruford. And rightly so - the location nearer London is being dropped and new buildngs are being put up at the Sidcup site (Strictly speaking - Kent and NOT london). How the site is going to hadle the larger number of students is yet to be seen. Thi site i also ... ...quality can vary! The in-the-round Rose theatre is a wonderful space which provides good experience for working proffessionaly in a somewhat unusual space. I have not visited the barn so cannot comment. The links to the communty are commendable - I got to know the place through school visits to see productions.
Generally - a good campus and good if not consistant result. Pity the first audition stage is so lousy! ...

Advantages: Great people, great place Disadvantages: Short first audition, hard work
Rose Bruford is like most top quality drama schools, unique. It attracts a relaxed but determined persona, and is one of the only places I have seen where they do not try and make you fit their 'mould', they meet you wherever you are in your ability and help discover and acting process that suits you. For me, what's attractive about the college campus is that it has all the advantages of london, such as being close to agents and top theatres, but ... ...space and landscape. In terms of reputation, I would reccommend looking at their website, www.bruford.ac.uk since the news section is constantly being updated with their many acheivements, thanks in no small part to the fantastic new head of acting Iain Reekie. Jess Gunning walked straight into a lead part in Major Barbara at the NT after leaving, Francis Ortega won the prestigious Spotlight Prize for Best Actor 2008, Tess Butler won the Lilian Baylis ...
