M & S Lambrusco
Advantages: The "Real Thing" Disadvantages: Difficult to find
I have read the reviews on this site about "Lambrusco" and I regret to say that the stuff all these refer to (at around £1.99 a bottle) is a disgrace to the name Lambrusco.
Lambrusco has long been my favourite wine, but some years ago it vanished from the shops to be replaced by the muck that is now widely available under that name. There were a couple of independent wine merchants who could still provide the "proper" stuff but only by the crate.
... ...were going to stock Lambrusco again - at £7.49 a bottle. I tried half the M & S stores on the planet without success. Today I hit the jackpot ! Their store in West Quay Southampton had some in stock. I bought 6 bottles (5% discount !) - I was not disappointed, it was wonderful, the real thing. Dry, sweet, fruity, fizzy,11% - what more could you want ?
It is a crying shame that this wonderful wine has had its name tarnished by the the garbage that ...

Luscious lambrusco, a good night had by all!
Advantages: Fruity flavoured, but not too heavy. Disadvantages: Of course the hangover!
I have never been much of a wine lover, finding that after only a couple of glasses I feel extremely drunk, also the fact that I only ever get a really bad hangover after drinking wine puts me off somewhat!
I have however always been a fan of Lambrusco, it was one of the things my mum and dad would let us have a glass of at Christmas, well that and peppermint cordial, I was convinced for years that it was highly alcoholic, actually getting "tipsy" ... ...a few months ago, after having a particularly heavy weekend on my beloved Tia - Maria, I decided I needed a change, not only was I getting a little bit bored of my afore mentioned favourite and also because it gets bloody expensive drinking a liqueur as my drink of choice constantly, it's nearly £16 a bottle, so on my daily jaunt to Asda, I decided to keep my eyes open for a new drink to tide me over on one of mine and my husbands "sessions!".
My ...

A Vina Espana
Advantages: Competitively priced Disadvantages: Gone too soon.
...THE WINERY
The Vina Albali winery was founded in the 1950's by Felix Solis Fernandez in a small bodega (winery or cellar) in the Valdepenas region of Spain. As the business began to expand beyond the local area to encompass sales to restaurants in Madrid the whole family became involved in winemaking. Overseas exports began in the late 1960's with the Solis brothers (Felix's sons) travelling far and wide to to promote their wines. Further expansion ... ...6,000 bottles per hour. Vina Albali now have bottling plants as far away as Tenerife and Shanghai as well as warehouses in France and the Czech Republic.
The actual Vina Albali vineyard, covering over 340 hectares, is situated near the small town of Pozo de Serna some 8km from Valdepenas. Here the timely seasonal rains and day - night temperature differences exceeding 30C (during the summer) give the ideal environment for the grapes to reach optimum ...

You wont get a nicer wine for 2 pond newts !!
Advantages: It is so cheap and delicious. Disadvantages: Not enough Asda's in the South West that I can get to .
...grab as many bottles of Seven Hills White wine as you can possibly get into your car boot. !!! WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT JULIE ? ~~~~ This vino da Tavola which is a produce of Italy is one of the nicest white wines that I have drunk in a long time....
WHAT DO WE LOOK FOR ? ~~~~ The clear glass bottle has a white label on the front with a picture of a green Lambretta type scooter at the top of the label and the words ' Seven Hills White ' in large print ... ...and it is in a 75cl bottle..... You will see that the wine is bottled by Cantina Del Bacco 39040 Ora Italy and then the surprise wording is ASDA SMART PRICE !! ( I WILL GET TO THE PRICE IN A MOMENT)
The label on the back of the bottle describes the wine as a refreshingly fruity, crisp white wine which they say is suitable on its own or with fried fish or salad ..... HERE THEY LIE !!! it is suitable with darn well everything from a bag of Maynards ...

Inycon't Until Proven Guilty
Advantages: Unusual wine from a surprising location Disadvantages: Probably a bit of an acquired taste
...vehicle clutching my bottle of Inycon Rose Cabernet Sauvignon.
ROSE WINES
To all extents and purposes rose wines are pale red wines made from red grapes. The exact colour is determined by how long the grapes are left to macerate (soak) and the judgement of the winemaker. Other roses are just white wines with red grape juice added - cheating or what ?
THE GRAPES
If not the king of red grapes, Cabernet Sauvignon, or 'Cab' as it's affectionately ... ...dominated.
THE WINERY
Inycon Estate wines are produced in Sicily by C.S. Menfi, and are named after the local wine festival held in the Village of Menfi. C.S. Menfi is actually a co-operative with over 2,300 members, cultivating over 6,500 hectares of vines. As well a many local grapes internationally renowned varieties such as chardonnay, merlot, syrah and the subject of this review cabernet sauvignon.
CAN I GET IT ANYWHERE ELSE ?
