I have had a hectic couple of days - my house has been overrun by children. They have just left. I am supposed to be cutting back on the booze, but I am chilling out tonight and I have treated myself to this product. I have never tasted this wine before - however, there was £2 off at the Spar, and given the current economic state, every penny counts.

I would like to apologise in advance to any readers who are expecting a comprehensive overview of this wine. I'm no Jilly Goolden and, after seeing her on Celebrity Wife Swap 10 days ago, I am proud of that fact. Instead, I will describe the product as I find it, rather than throwing in a bit of psycho-babble.

I will drink anything and everything - on Sunday, I re-acquainted myself with Pernod. In the current financial climate, I have resorted to cheap cider at times, and have been washing my hair in Fairy Liquid for 2 weeks. I have shiny hair and soft hands now. Hopefully I will get similar positives from this wine.

I chose red, but I have no preference. The only time I have ever chosen wine for a reason, was when I spilled half a bottle of red on my bed. It was late, and I had to queue outside Tesco at 8 o'clock the next morning. for a bottle of white, to remove the stain They must have thought I was the local wino. I went home and poured the contents over the red wine, which, alas had now dried. I had to buy a new mattress, therefore, I pour my wine away from my bed these days.

This 2007 wine is 13.5% vol., and apparently the spiciness complements the blackcurrant flavours. It has a screw top which is good, as my corkscrew is broken and leaves a sawdust-like residue on the rim of the bottle. Carefully opening away from any fabrics, I pour the wine into a 250ml glass.

I notice the bottom is square, which can only be good news for those of us with sweaty hands. I can smell the spiciness as I hold it under my nose.

Now for the taste test. I know that when wine tasting, the wine is supposed to be spat into a sawdust-filled barrel. I don't have one of those handy, besides, spitting is a habit I really don't want to adopt. I take a sip and swill it around my mouth. The label is correct. At first I can taste sumptuous blackberries with a spicy aftertaste. Delicious.

Due to monetary problems, I attempted to make my own wine once - it went dreadfully wrong and had bits in it. It was like rocket fuel, however and fulfilled a purpose late at nights.

I would thoroughly recommend this wine - it is delicious. But will one bottle be enough? Time to check my credit card balance...

Rosemount Estates Shiraz Palatable, Enjoyable
Review of Rosemount Estates Australian Shiraz by Pelenya

Advantages: Wonderful palate, full-bodied and fruity
Disadvantages: None known

...especially the Australian varieties. Rosemount Estate Shiraz is one that is consistently good. It certainly has never let me down. This is always a full-bodied, rich wine and is never watery! This wine is found is most chain supermarkets in the United States, and is also often found in small corner markets. The price is comparable with most good Australian brands of Shiraz and averages about nine dollars per bottle. I believe that with Rosemount ...
...at work. A bottle Rosemount Estates Shiraz contains 13 percent alcohol. It is quite fruity with a hearty taste. The wine comes from the south eastern area of Australia. Too me, it is much better than Merlot, which is a very popular wine in the States at this time. I can highly recommend Rosemount Estates Shiraz for many reasons. It is reasonably priced and has a wonderful full-bodied and fruity palate. My advice is...if in doubt, give Rosemount ... Read review

Blockbuster of a wine.
Review of Rosemount Estates Australian Shiraz by Pihuan

Advantages: Hefty shiraz.
Disadvantages: Perhaps a bit too hefty.

...am reviewing is the 2002. Rosemount wines are now the largest wine producing company in Australia, since the Oakey family firm merged with Southcorp in 2001. They are a global player in the wine market, with a strong presence in the US and here, where they tend to have pole position in almost every wine retail outlet (eye level, end of row). Their Shiraz varietal is a best seller in the US, and very popular here too. It usually costs around £7.50 ...
...special offer. Rosemount wines often participate in such offers. I bought this at Tesco, for about £6 in an offer giving 20% off all Aussie wines. Shiraz is the most widely planted red grape variety in Australia. It is well known for producing rich reds with a classic spicy finish. Shiraz is an alternative name for the Syrah grape which in France can produce a rich, full-bodied, complex, spicy, long-lived wine that thrives in the Rhone region of ... Read review

Gorgeous, gorgeous wine
Review of Rosemount Estates Australian Shiraz by drewish

Advantages: Best wine I have ever tasted
Disadvantages: £7.50 a bottle, but worth it

...wine for a special occasion. Rosemount is a little pricey at £7.50 per bottle, but it can be found on special offer for £5 occasionally. Ignore all that stuff about supermarkets not selling their wine at the true price when they discount it - it may happen, but not in the case of Rosemount. This is still very good value, even at £7.50 and is simply the best wine I have ever drank. I'm sure it is possible to find a better Franch wine, but I am also ... Read review
