Tone controls bass and treble , with a tone defeat switch (switches the bass and treble off keeping the sound as close to the original as possible).
Two pairs of speakers can be connected with switching between the pairs or both pairs of speakers on at the same time.(4 in total)
Power handling is ... ...of by what seems to be a low power rating this amp will go far louder than you can imagine , how loud a hi fi can go is down to the sensitivity of the speakers (i.e how easy they can be driven)and not the power of the amp.
Connect this amp up to some qaulity hi fi speakers and it won't dissapoint . The amp sounds great with all kinds of music from rock to jazz . This amp does not have bass boost switches or graphic equalizers thats ... more

Power handling is 2 x 40 watts ,8 ohms , don't be put of by what seems to be a low power rating this amp will go far louder than you can imagine , how loud a hi fi can go is down to the sensitivity of the speakers (i.e how easy they can be driven)and not the power of the amp.

This amp does not have bass boost switches or graphic equalizers thats not what true hi fi is about , the tone controls won't add bags of bass or treble, just subtle amounts ,the job of the amp is to reproduce the music as it was intended to be heard . Musical instruments sound more real and natural and the music starts to sound as though its being played in front of you and not from the speakers . This amp is a taste of true hi fi at a reasonble price.
If the amp has a critisim it is that it doesn't play poor recorded or heavily compressed music very well or to rephrase it ,it shows poor recordings up and it could be said it looks a bit plain
Advantages: Value for money, excellent sound, bi wire abilty and upto 4 speakers Disadvantages: plain looks if you like shiny things
This amplifer was my first introduction to the world of real hi-fi equipment and quite simply it was an absolute bargin. I have this connected to an NAD cd player and B&W 602 s2 speakers and it sounds fantastic. I find it produces very warm sounds with an excellent bass response.
This may be an entry level amp and only rated at 40 watts but it has plenty of power, many other cheaper amp's my show more power, when it comes to it they loose clarity ... ...sony amp rated at 80 watts per channel)
This amp really does benefit from high quality interconnectors, speaker cables and make sure they're fitted with gold plated bannana plugs, it really does make a difference.
It looks quite plain and understated. When my hose was broken into this amp and cd player was left behind in favour of a £100 Awia system with lots of flashing lights.
I would high reccomend this amp as after 3 years it is still producing ...
