A high speed router for personal use.
Advantages: Easy of installation, speed and reliability Disadvantages: Looks old fashioned!
As the IT support guru at work I thought buying a wirelss router would be easy but no. A maze of choices. After many hours I found a router from a name I trusted (BT) that offerred the "faster" speed at a price that was very competative.
I took it home, followed the very easy "step by step" instructions and I had a secure wireless network running in under 10 minutes. What was even more special was that the wireless connection was faster than when ... ...broadband!
It has worked flawlessly for the last few months and I would recommend it to anyone.
I work two rooms away from the router and the signal has been fine which I also understand can be an issue with some routers.
My only negative comment is that it looks old fashined but hey it works well. ...

A Functional Monster
Advantages: Cheap second hand, works Disadvantages: Outdated
...this).
~~Installation~~
The BT Voyager was the very first router I installed on my own, so I was a bit scared of working out how to do it. I lived with a friend who was pretty computer savvy, but when we found out our internet connection was active she was out at Uni so I had to deal with it. But I needn’t have worried as it proved to be really simple. The router came with an incomprehensible instruction booklet, but also with a quick start guide ... ...A nice feature of the BT Voyager homepage is that you can check out who is accessing your wireless. If you think things are running a bit slow and are worried that someone may have hacked through your security settings then you can see what computers are connected via the DHCP table. For a while one of my housemates was rather concerned who this ‘Barry’ was who was accessing our network, but (as readers of my past reviews will know) this was actually ...

BT Voyager 2000 - Irritating
Advantages: It sometimes works quite well Disadvantages: It often doesn't
...whether this is due to BT and Belkin hardware/software not working with each other or some configuration error on the computer's Windows system so it may not be the router's fault. It must be said that it was possible to connect my PSP and my Dad's laptop to the router as well as the main computer it was intended for.
Regarding the way it sometimes stops working, I am very irritated. It isn't that old a piece of hardware to be temporarily stopping. ... ...The customer service from BT is poor. When the router first stopped working and I rang up to get some help, I was just diverted from call centre to call centre, usually abroad and told the same instructions, which did not work. I ttook about an hour for someone to suggest that I should try unplugging the power, waiting three minutes and trying again.
I haven't tried any other wireless routers and I am not a computer expert, but you aren't supposed ...

good router all over
Advantages: highly usable Disadvantages: none
...when I signed up to BT Broadband about 3 years ago, and it works as well as it did then, now.
Currently I use this router to connect both my laptop and my playstation 3 to the internet at the same time, taking advantage of both the usb and ethernet connections that are available on it.
The power supply that comes with it is very good, it has lasted me a while and does not use alot of electricity compared to other routers.
There is plenty enough ... ...for the heavy internet user, I have had it on for 4 days solid and it was mildly warm and was still functioning.
Occasionally it will drop the connection, but a simple switch off and on resets it and it works perfect, that is I''ve done it once or twice a year.
If you're wondering about setting up guides, it's really really easy.. a CD is provided that walks you through every part, telling you what to do and showing you what to do.. it's as simple ...

Good router too!
Advantages: I bought it cheap! Disadvantages: Not wireless and maybe a bit old tech!!
...I have a BT account, I don't swap around. The system works and although I know can get a cheaper service elsewhere, I can't be sure that it will be as good. What has this to do with the BT Voyager 240 though? My initial connection to the internet was a voyager 205. This is the standard broadband modem that BT sell(free!) you with an account. It works very well and I still have it as back up in case the 240 fails. The 205 has 2 connectors to the internet ... ...a standard type of issue BT box. Its called a wired ADSL router. It has a separate wart type power supply and 2 ADSL microfilters. There is also a cable for the phone socket to the unit and 2 computer to modem leads. There is a quickstart guide on a big fold out sheet and also a setup CD (Which I never used).
Physically the modem is slightly larger than the 205, it also has lights along the front. It slopes back and has vents to let heat out. The ...
